TWU Fall 2021 Applicants

Published

Hello Everyone,

I have been looking to see if someone would make a forum for us that are applying for the fall 2021 Texas Woman's University nursing program. Since I have not found one I decided to make one. So let's get this forum started! Are you applying to Houston or Dallas? Have you taken your TEAS and if so what was your score? If you have any questions or any information you would like to share please do! I am applying to Dallas and I have yet to take the TEAS.

Hey Julia!

Thank you so much for being willing to answer all of our questions! Would you mind sharing your basic weekly class schedule? I am curious what the general course load /average week looks like ?

Yall I just retook my TEAS and got a 96! WOO HOOO!! I have no preference and am trying to get into the Dallas Traditional program so I am THRILLED to have scored high.

Sure! J1 schedule was:

Monday: pharmacology 9am-11:50am and concepts 1pm-3:50pm both on zoom.

Tuesday: assessment 2pm-4:50pm pm on zoom

Wednesday: skills in lab until about week 4 or 5 which I think lasted 2-3 hours. After that you have clinical every other week from 6am-2 or 3pm and vSim from 8-12/1ish in between. You also have post-clinical which is about an hour on the weeks you go to the hospital.

Friday: assessment lab from 8-11:30ish (some groups got let out early). Your times will vary depending on your group.

Your assessment and clinical days vary based on your placement.

Thanks for sharing! ? Do you know how clinical placements are assigned? I'm not familiar with how the process works and is there a difference in placement between the traditional and weekend/evening programs?

Well I know traditional is *supposed* to be based on how close you live, but that isn't always the case. If you have experience with VA you'll probly end up there. But it seems kinda random honestly. They work with a lot of great hospitals though. I'm at Parkland and THR Plano this semester and live in Addison. I'm not sure about N&W.

Good to know!! I’m over on the west side of D/FW (Keller/N. Ft Worth) and was curious how this works too

Le, did you update your TEAS score after submitting your NursingCas?

No. They don't allow you to update after submitting. I waited until I retake TEAS, upload new TEAS score and submitted.

Thank you. Did you take your TEAS at TWU?

I didn't take mine at TWU. I just uploaded that 7 page long PDF. I wonder if I need to do anything else?

Me too. Nope, they only need the TEAS report. ?

Got it. I am wondering if anyone knows any other dallas fort worth nursing program to apply for?

I am a bit nervous with my TWU application and I want to have other choice.

UTA is good too. Except you have to get their 3 classes.

Specializes in ICU.

UTA but their application for fall closed already. They have on campus and online for DFW

I hear there aren’t many choices in DFW. Sorry ?

Yeah. That's pretty much why I didn't finish their application.
