TWU Fall 2020 Applicants

Updated:   Published

Hey there. I plan on applying to TWUs N&W program in February for the Fall 2020 start. I just took my TEAS test today, my score was:

Overall: 85.3%

Reading: 87.2%

Math: 96.9%

Science: 74.5%

English: 83.3%

I'm not happy with my science score, but I also haven't taken A&P II or Chemistry yet, just A&P I. I plan on retaking the TEAS in December.

I have a 3.85 science core GPA (one B in A&P I) and 3.81 prereq GPA. that gives me a 45.56 admission score, which probably won't cut it. I can't retake A&P I in time, so my only hope is a higher TEAS score.

Who else is applying for Fall 2020? Are you applying to Houston, Dallas Traditional, or Dallas N&W?

When an application is complete and need nothing else is it supposed to say verified and we do nothing else or is it supposed to say completed?

I submitted mine at 2 Am yesterday and just received an email now saying that it is verified! Let the waiting game begin ?

Anyone else feel nervous looking at all those GPAs that NursingCas calculates??

I don't think they go by what nursingcas says necessarily. Nursingcas counts all retakes and all classes while TWU looks only at the required pre reqs and highest retake, I think. My nursingcas gpa was lower than what the advisor and I calculated on the excel sheet

Just got out of my TEAS exam. I couldn't for the life of me focus on the reading or math section. Idk what it was. Maybe nerves? I got an average 88.7% score. I'm disappointed because I knew I could do so much better on the math and reading if I could only focus. I got high 90s on those sections from the two practice exams. Idk what happened. ?

Anyway, I'm now sitting at a score of 48.6 for TWU Houston. I don't even know if that's competitive. I think a 47 was the lowest score admitted last fall? I don't remember. Lol I am just so bummed out! I'm gonna take a nap now lol

48 points for Houston should be more than enough!! My friend who got accepted for spring 2020 got accepted with 44 points! She was not waitlisted either

I'm at 44.77 points. Did your friend go to TWU for her prerequisites?

Yes! She had the Twu preference but that only gives you additional points to your admission score, it doesn’t actually give you “preference”. Also for Houston, according to past acceptance points, it is typically less competitive in the fall compared to spring.

Congrats!! Did you receive your acceptance through an email?

I still haven't got an email, they updated the website.

I’m applying to Houston with ~49 admission points. Does anyone know if TWU will consider applicants who miss the NursingCAS transcript deadline? I’m worried my transcript won’t be received by them before Feb 1st.

If it's been more than 10 days since you sent your transcript you can call NursingCas and they'll basically submit a request to find your transcript. I had to call them a few times when it took almost 3 weeks lol

I spoke with someone at NursingCAS about this and they said you can submit your application without them receiving the transcripts. As long as you send your transcripts to them by Feb 1st, then they let you submit it.

Double check with them of course, but this is what I was told by someone over at NursingCAS.

I was in the exact same position as you. My school said transcript could take 3 weeks to arrive. What I would recommend is to see if there is an expedited option and send the transcript again. You will be spending some extra money but it would guarantee its arrival. Also, according to the advisor I spoke with, your application should be submitted and the transcript received (not verified) by the deadline.
