I went back to work from maternity leave in November, I was promised prn in January. My manager told me that it not happening anymore. Due to child care resources, I put in my two weeks in. But the issue is my last day at work is going to be Christmas day. I want to call in since it's a holiday but not sure how it will affect me long term.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks
Thank you, guess I was just mad but after all I will drag my butt In and work the holiday like it was my first day of work. I can't do that to my co workers.
And it's OK for you to feel mad about having to work--you're human. But sometimes you have to put your feelings away for a bit and do the right thing.
In addition to not burning bridges, are you sure the policy is only two weeks? Many nurses are finding that they are required to give more notice- I have to give four weeks. You don't want to end up labeled not eligible for rehire, especially with the way so many hospitals are merging.
For the past twenty years, I've been required to give four weeks notice or more. I agree with the idea of not burning bridges. You don't want to find yourself blacklisted at every facility in the vicinity.

Glad you're going to go. I know it's hard having a child & wanting to celebrate the holidays all together but it just isn't going to happen. Since your baby is still young you can always celebrate when you're off & there will be many more holidays you will spend together.
