Two Clinicals at Once?

It might be a silly question, but I'm wondering if this is unusual, or if I just need to shut up 'n suck it up...

I've got Mental Health clinical going right now for the first rotation of the semester: Tues/Thurs 9-4. At the same time, I'm being to participate in

activities with my Mother/Baby clinical, including lectures, classes, developing a case study, and working with a pregnant mother.

Essentially I'm in two clinicals at once, and this is the first time I've had this happen. Am I being whiny? Are there others out there who have had two clinical experiences concurrently?

Just wondered... thanks! ]..[

In the last BSN program in which I taught, the students had two (different) clinical rotations each semester during their senior year -- students who were in my psych lecture and clinical also had advanced med surg lecture and clinical each week.

Each semester we have 2 clinicals.

1. LTC/ community / OB

2. Peds / med-surg

3. psych / Med-surg

4. independent /community

I am a senior 1 at TWU and we have three clinicals for both the senior 1 and senior 2 semesters. I am taking a pedi clinical all day thursday, a communities clinical all day friday and a mental wellness clinical all day saturday. Lectures are Monday and Tuesday and we go to the hospital to select a patient on Wednesday.

I can't wait till spring break.

I took Adult Health (2 days/week) and Psych (1 evening/week) in the same semester, Peds and OB (each for 2 days/week for five weeks each) in the same semester, and would have had Community(40 hours) and Gero (one day/week) in the same semester if I hadn't done an overseas experience for Community over the break. We were an accelerated program as well, so the community/gero thing was an entire semester in seven weeks - both classes, plus two other classes at the same time.

The only semester I didn't have two clinical courses was my first semester - but I had a master's level physical assessment course at the same time, so it practically felt like two clinical courses.

You're not alone!

I'm in an accelerated program, so we have MS 1 and psych together for the 1st half of the semester, and MS 2 twice a week the second half - all critical care. We also fit in all of our management clinicals this semester. Over the summer the first half is OB, Peds, and Community, and the last half is preceptorship. I have 5 didactic courses (only 4 for a grade) plus lab as well. Most of us have it pretty rough, I think.
