  1. DO YOU AGREE THAT THE NEW TVCC 2013 ADN BROCHURE IS BAD NEWS?

TVCC HAS CHANGED THEIR 2013 BROCHURE ON THEIR WEBSITE THE problem is that the tvcc counselors gave out a list of honors classes for the students to pick from so that they could recieve an extra point AND the problem is that some of those honors classes to pick from on that list are not part of their new 2013 class requirement guidlines and alot of students have already taken those honors classes not required some have gotten lucky and taken the humanities fine arts honors class but some have taken other honors classes not required and are now out of the time and money they spent on that class. THE OTHER PROBLEM is that not every one is interested in getting a bachelors degree alot of people i talk to are interested in obtaining their associates degree in RN. so why penalize the people just wanting an associates by making them take all of those extra classes just for an associates degree not a BSN they should have an option. but i was reading and i noticed that tvcc teamed up with the universities to make the students be forced to take the additional classes towards their bsn so that way the school can get more money from students spending on more classes and books it seems a little crooked if you ask me. it looks like tvcc will now only be enrolling more students interested in a BSN rather than having students interested in a ADN....... or is this just a way to weed out alot of their applicants ?????? makes you say and think HHHHMM ????????

I am graduating with my ADN from TVCC in 11 days. The reason for the admission requirements is really to your benefit. It is not easy finding a job in a hospital with only an ADN, many hospitals are working towards or have already achieved their magnet status and are only hiring BSN's. I highly doubt if you apply to the program now that many people will have all of those classes done. The classes are not actually requirements for the program, just simply classes that give you additional points for admission purposes. Having these classes done will allow you an easier transition to a BSN and afford you many more opportunities in the workforce.

hay rntobe i wish what your comment said was true but unfortunetly it is not the truth of the matter is i have already called and spoken with several counselors from tvcc and they all have said that the new extra classes are not only going to be for extra points but also be a requirement to get your ADN there at tvcc. now this was about a 2 months ago when i spoke with them. not unless they got so many complaints and decided to change this and not make it a requirement but as far as i was informed this will be a requirement so yes those additional classes will be forced on you to get your ADN wether you want to take them or not. lucky for you that you got in before all of these silly changes so good for you that you only have 11 days left i wish i was in your shoes. and as far as that rumor going arround that is is hard to find a job as an ADN and easir for a BSN well that is just a rumor i have plenty of fammily and friends that are ADN and LVN and they all have jobs. and even if it it were hard to find a job as an ADN it will not be like that for long because nurses are going to be more an more in demand besides thats for me to worry about thats not the schools job. the schools job is to just eudcate me and let me reach my goals wether my goals are ADN or BSN but not to try and force me to give money out of my pocket to pay for extra classes just because they are interested in a profit. and covering up the fact that they are interested in a profit by saying well we want to try and push are students towards BSN because more employers want that when the truth is they want more money spent on more classes for better profit earnings but they are just shooting them selves in the foot they are gonna loose money because people will just opt out from going to there ADN program and go to any of the other ADN programs available in north texas. well congratulations on your graduation you lucky dog you wish i could have gotten in under ther radar before they decided to make all these changes. i would have loved to attend tvcc but im looking else where at this point. ttyl

TEXXAS, In the nursing profession, learning doesn't stop with an ADN degree. I just graduated in May of this year from TVCC with an ADN and it isn't easy finding a job right now. Most of the employers that I have spoken with want to know that I am planning to continue my education. I know these changes may be frustrating but I know they will help you in the end. Nursing is full of changes and it's not always happy so I would encourage you to refrain from lashing out on the people that have taken their time to help you. I wish you luck with school and your nursing career. If nursing is really what you want to do then why let a few extra classes stand in your way! TVCC is an amazing school (no, I don't work there) but it is a hard school and the attitude that you have shown on here will never work there. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to help.

I applied to the Kaufman ADN program for the Fall semester of 2013. I am still waiting for feedback on the acceptance or regrets. I have completed the required prereqs and some. The director of the program still told me it wouldnt be enough. I currently have 13 points and I have 45 hours in credits! I am currently enrolled in Microbiology, Chemistry, Texas Govt, Human Growth&Dev, and Soph. English. I am an over-achiever and the director had the guts to tell me I could reapply next year! I told him...why would I do that when this is my last semester of school and I'm graduating! Did I mention that these are all BSN courses that I have completed! This program is a waste :\ I'm angry because I did all this work and took the HESI and aced it! 90 in Reading, 86 in Grammar, 82 in Math. YET IT STILL ISNT ENOUGH. So guess what I did.....I contacted UT TYLER...and now I am interested in their program. Want to know why? BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE THE MORE LOGICAL CHOICE! For a person like me! ;) No disrespect to the TVCC FANS -_-

I'm a graduate of the TVCC ADN program. I am currently in my BSN transition at a University that DOES NOT require pre-reqs. Not every BSN school requires them.

Tvcc is wrong for their new change. It knocks all the people who want test the waters with a Associates. Now we are all kicked in the dirt unless you were already planning on getting a BSN. SMH Im upset. But its okay I still have faith`

Is anyone applying in Dec?
