  1. DO YOU AGREE THAT THE NEW TVCC 2013 ADN BROCHURE IS BAD NEWS?

TVCC HAS CHANGED THEIR 2013 BROCHURE ON THEIR WEBSITE THE problem is that the tvcc counselors gave out a list of honors classes for the students to pick from so that they could recieve an extra point AND the problem is that some of those honors classes to pick from on that list are not part of their new 2013 class requirement guidlines and alot of students have already taken those honors classes not required some have gotten lucky and taken the humanities fine arts honors class but some have taken other honors classes not required and are now out of the time and money they spent on that class. THE OTHER PROBLEM is that not every one is interested in getting a bachelors degree alot of people i talk to are interested in obtaining their associates degree in RN. so why penalize the people just wanting an associates by making them take all of those extra classes just for an associates degree not a BSN they should have an option. but i was reading and i noticed that tvcc teamed up with the universities to make the students be forced to take the additional classes towards their bsn so that way the school can get more money from students spending on more classes and books it seems a little crooked if you ask me. it looks like tvcc will now only be enrolling more students interested in a BSN rather than having students interested in a ADN....... or is this just a way to weed out alot of their applicants ?????? makes you say and think HHHHMM ????????

Also, maybe more than one semester of English is beneficial in being a great ADN RN... putting it politely.

Putting it politely . You must have not already done your research and spoken with any counselors before. And by your response i can tell that you do not carry an associates degree, but to obtain an associates degree in any thing. You do not need those 7 additional classes you only need those 7 addditional classes if you are wanting to obtain a bachelors degree and as for taking a 2nd english class no big deal but do not make students take 7 aditional classes on such short notice and have the common sense to know that no other associate degree in the state of texas requires these 7 additional classes only a bachelors degree requires this and now tvcc asscoiates degree rn program requires these 7 extra classes ........... Thats wack

and i quote:

the extra classes are nothing more than your basics. regardless if you get a ba (correction=bachelors) in nursing or any other degree you would still need these courses. if you decide nursing is not for you and you want to do something else your lower level classes are complete. if you look at it from that pov maybe this would be easier to swallow.

Actually, as I said before, the Community College System is Texas, as a whole, is looking to adopt this layout. NCTC already has, El Centro is. It's the requirements of the future. You may not like it but they are giving adequate notice. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say that English is your second language.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say that English is your second language.

I never thought about that. Maybe you are right

this is just a comment forum not an english class i do not have time nor do i care if my spelling is incorrwct or if i have run on sentences when i just type these responses in a hurry on the go but if i were taking an english class or writing a college essay i would pay closer attention. but again this is just a comment forum but now i know by the way you are so concerned about my comments being so perfect that you defantly have to be a professor and rep for tvcc i can just tell only a professor would be that concerned about spelling an run on sentences in a comment forum if you dont have a job and a life an the xtra time to worry about spelling an run on sentences good for you but i got places to go and things to do im not getting a grade for my opinion so bite me and no english is not my 2nd language. english is my 1st language that remark sounded very racist totally gives you away that you are a resident of east texas and you do work at tvcc.....lol no i shouldnt stereo type but if it walks like a duck looks and sounds like a duck well you know i guess that means your a hillbilly duck...lol .... now back to the real world like i was saying no you do not need all 7 of those classes for an associates degree only for a BA i dont know who told you that but they are way off. please quit straying from what is important which is the fact that tvcc is money hungry and trying to get more money out of the pockets of students this forum is not about my spelling or about your racist remarks it is about how tvcc is being crooked to the students so try an stay on point and quit trying to stray away from the real problem at hand.

if you disagree with my opinion about tvcc being money hungry than you do not have to participate in my forum i tell you what since you have a differant opinion why dont you go an post your own forum and give your own thoughts about the new tvcc changes. and how you think the new changes are so great and wonderful an blahh blahh blahhh

Racist? Hardly. I was trying to be kind & point out to another poster that you may not be ignorant but, perhaps, english was not your primary language and your posts were coming across wrong because of it. I was wrong...

By the way, you do not own this forum, so don't bother trying to tell me where I can and can not post. Do you even know the difference between a thread & forum?

I personally believe this is a professional website. Nursing is a PROFESSION and this website is for nursing and aspiring nurses. We should remain professional in communication, including grammar/spelling. Others read these post to learn from others. Venting is okay if done tactful. It appears anyone who agrees with or does not have a problem with the extra classes you lash out. El Centro and other COMMUNITY COLLEGES are making the change, not just TVCC. Overall the change is being made to better equip nurses, especially since nurses can cause life or death in their patients. This should be a good thing not frowned upon because after school comes the real world. People can be killed! Back on point, if TVCC is money hungry then so are the other schools. Its not about money but about hospitals and the health field wanting better nurses. It is not nice to throw around comments like racist. From what I can see those who have posted, including myself, have tried to help you realize the changes and the benefits it can provide. I can see the initial frustration but even when Helen, from TVCC, tried to explain the changes your response to her was kind of rude. If the changes are not what you want, then there are other "job" choices. Both Princess Mama and I referred to Bachelors degrees not Associate degrees when referring to the 7 additional classes. You failed to read properly what was said. I am not a TVCC rep, I am an aspiring nursing student. Social websites like facebook or myspace would probably better benefit you for what you are expecting to hear regarding the changes in the ADN programs. Toodles!

blah blah blah you dont know what your talking about how is government 1 and 2 or history 1 and 2 or college algebra going to help me save a patients life what while the patient is in shock or having a stroke am i going to ask the patient what 2x+3x= or waitt may be i can prevent the patient from dying by asking him about U.S history maybe just may be the patient might be revived by knowing what year franklin or washington was president come on get real now back to the real world i cann see where you would need to know a&p or microbilogy to save a life but algebra governtment and history ???? REALLY ?? TO SAVE SOMEONES LIFE ??? OK IF YOU SAY SO BUDDY. any whoo about helen i was not being rude i was just stating the facts to her i know that your her co worker and you need to defend your fellow co workers but get your facts straight before you start making accusations that i was being rude to helen. dude wake up an get a clue......
