Turkey

Specializes in COS-C, Risk Management.

I am an American nurse currently residing in Missouri, but planning to move to Istanbul this fall. I'm looking for other American nurses living and working in Turkey, specifically in Istanbul. Would also love to make contact with Turkish nurses who speak English (my Turkish is not good). Any contact is greatly appreciated.

Hello KateRN1!

I've been living in Istanbul for 8 months. I'm brazilian and I do speak English, French and some Turkish (basic).

Unfortunatelly in Turkey you must know a very good Turkish to start to work, which is not my case.

During this time I've been there, I took some group and private lessons and after this 8 months, I don't speak enough to start to work. It's a very difficult language to learn!

If you do speak Turkish, I would recomend you to look for the American Hospital (amerika hastanesi), French Hospital, Florence Nightingale Hospital... There are lots of them, but be aware that some of them have a policy of not hiring foreign professionals.

Hope this was helpful and if you need more informations, let me know.

Good luck!

Hi, sounds like you've been here just a bit longer than me. So far, I've not been looking for a job in healthcare, although that may change someday. Will keep up my license, in any case.

I would love to talk to you in person and share stories, if you like.

Kate

For sure!

That would be lovelly!

I'm sending you my e-mail, so you can plan to meet soon.

Take care.
