What is the best way to find out if a hospital or LTCF will pay for your lpn training? Call the hospital direct? Or contact the state board of nursing?

Call the hospital, go to job fairs, watch the local papers and nursing magazines that are given out for free.
The BON won't be able to help you with that kind of information.

I wish I would have made my instructors elaborate more on the issue of malpractice when we were studying legal issues. We are told what a noble career nursing is... and by the way you may get sued.
Maybe it's my mood today, but I'm seriously re-evaluating whether I want to go through with this degree. I am in level 1 and so far it's been pretty great. I start my clinicals this Thursday.
I have such a crappy attitude today. I don't want to view my patients as liability cases and a threat to me but yes, patients who could potentially sue me "just because" (we were told we could do everything right and still have someone go after us) is a huge threat to my family and me.
I want to ask my instructors to remind me "why I should I become a nurse again?" Other than it being a "noble".
Can someone give me some perspective?
Thanks!!

If you decide to go into nursing...
Be nice. Kiss butt and you won't have much to worry about, especially considering that if anybody sues anybody they are going to go after the folks with the money (the nursing homes or hospitals). If they find out you as a nurse carry malpractice insurance that will pay a significant amount of money get your court clothes ready because they will come after you too. I don't carry insurance, I figure that would be like a magnet for sue happy people.
If your crummy attitude is something you think will stay with you even after you graduate by all means start looking at something else to do. Nobody is twisting your arm to become a nurse. If you want to do it do it if you don't don't.
