Work week has started off quiet, spent some time towards the end of the day helping coworkers covering for someone who is off

After work exercised and got my CCM certification and CT license renewed.  Will renew the MA license today at work as all of the web sites for that are on my work computer. Will do the grocery shopping after work.  Also have to let the boss know about a standby jury summons I received, hopefully won't have to go in

Was reviewing some of the vacation destinations I thought about when I was younger.  I think back then I imagined myself to be a great outdoorsman of sorts, but as I get older I realize I only like the outdoors in limited, controlled amounts.  Will have to take that into account when making future plans

Will be a bit warmer today, up to the mid 70s

Good morning!

I love the outdoors and day hikes but always like returning to a nice hotel or home.

J22, you must really be a site.

The UPS store was open until 12:00 and I returned an album I bought from Amazon that skipped and didn't play half of the other songs.  So I did that.  Came home and put another album on and it did the same thing.  Must be my record player.  Ugh.  

So we're all in hurricane mode.  I'm not obsessing but checking the updates every six hours.  The update for 11AM showed no significant change, but the timing for landfall is later.  This might be good news as it will weaken out there.  The other good news is the eye is south which means a better surge.  I'll be honest in that seeing the eye run right through where I live is unsettling.  

Got some free sandbags today.  They could only give out 10 but I figured I'd some some out around my garage and front door.  Mostly to make me feel better.   The surge if it stays south is unlikely to reach my house.  

Wanted to top off the last fourth of my gas tank and four gas stations had no gas.  

Not sure if I mentioned that best friend's cat is letting him know he's passing.  Not eating, drinking and barely responding.  No pain and no distress so he's bringing him.  At first he didn't want to traumatize him but he's too far gone for that.  As long as he knows best friend is with him, he will be fine away from home.

I like to be outdoors, but I confess, I do not like sleeping on the ground. I have enjoyed visiting several National Parks. When I was growing up, that is how my family went on vacation. 

It's raining today, so I've haven't been out much. I did get a jog/walk in before the rain started. The bruises on my face are changing colors, and the swelling in my nose is going down. It no longer looks like a round ball in the middle of my face. It's very tender to touch, so I think I must have broken it, but it's not displaced. 

Aw, Tweety, that is tough for your friend, a dying pet and having to evacuate. 

Of all the jury summons I've had, I've had to report only twice. And was excused after sitting through the first half day on those 2 occasions. I suppose I've jinxed myself now. 

Im playing Trivia tonight. One category with be Zombies, which I know little about. Hopefully youngest ds is home in time to help. 

I tried a cleaning technique for a non-stick skillet. Someone had burnt something and there was some hard black stuff stuck on. I heated soapy water in it and added a dryer softening sheet and simmered for 10 minutes. the black stuff came right off!

Hello all!

nursej22, good to hear you are healing well.  I have several non-stick pans I never use, I suppose I should just take them to Goodwill or someplace, so someone may get some use out of them.  Good job, though, getting that area clean!

My walking partners cancelled for tonight, so I spent part of the afternoon cleaning out a little niche where all kinds of stuff has accumulated.  It is better now, and I have set aside a bag of things to donate.

Not much else planned for today.  Guess I need to make that pumpkin chili, either today or tomorrow...

Thinking of you and your friend and his cat, Tweety. 

On this last day of the conference I skipped out a little early and went to the San Diego Zoo. My feet and knees are complaining but it was a pleasant afternoon. Then had a "street taco" down by the marina. Flying home in the morning. Well, with the 2 hour time difference it will be 5:30 when I get to OKC.

I've really liked San Diego on the 2 times I've visited. That zoo is really something. I loved the pandas and koalas.
