Good morning!
Jury duty is disrupting and boring. A lot of waiting around.
Naturally the roofer made the case for a new roof. Makes sense but mostly I have to trust him. We'll see what the adjuster says and most likely he's not going to authorize a new roof.
It was nice to go bowling and try to relax some. I've been feeling anxious a good deal of the day but tired enough I can sleep some with my meds.
G who seems to have a cloud over his head was at Walmart buying a storage container when an overhead sign fell on his head causing a big bruise. He says he doesn't feel right and since he had an appointment to get some annual labs done will see an PA at his doctors office. This happened a few days ago and most likely he's okay, maybe with mild post-cuconssion symptoms. I have been watching him. I'm wondering if they will order a CT scan to be extra cautious. He's not very forthcoming with what "not feeling right" means. He did report it to the manager who took down a report. Some changes will be made so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. He said a couple of employees saw it and ignored him and didn't come to help or see if he was okay. Tik Tok is telling people they don't get paid enough and to do the absolute bare minimum.
Signed up for next year's benefits at work this morning and it will be $20 more a month. I switched from Health Savings to a lower deductible plan.
Routine chores today. It's mop the floor day.
Tweety, Ooooo, poor G! I hope he gets checked out soon, at least for peace of mind. What a freak accident! How was bowling last night?
Hi Joe!
Slept OK last night. Will be walking in the pm today, with a friend. I need to pick up a few things from the grocery store. Yesterday when I went to the store, I decided to just get salad makings, and not get another burrito-in-a-bowl from the Mexican restaurant. Gotta get started with the salads again. It will be 87 degrees today, skies clear. But in autumn's defense, the evenings ARE getting cooler, and the sun is going down earlier. 🙂
Have a good day!
80 degrees and sunny, but humidity will only be 37% (and a half). No rains are predicted for umpty-ump more days. Weather-guy says we are okay, no drought is starting with this long dry spell, because Helene was so generous to us with all the rain she dumped hereabouts. It may be coming up on November, but it'll still be Summer weather this week. But, dianah...87 degrees??! Ridiculous!
Before Nannie even asks, NO, we are not going out today! SiL is supposed to be getting her tomorrow, so she can go out tomorrow....and then when they bring her back, forget she was away all afternoon, and ask if she is going out in the car, as soon as she is seated in her recliner, looks out and sees SiL's car in the backyard. When we say that she just came back home in that car, she will look dubious and disappointed, and pout some more. I put one of her FAVORITE outfits on her about a half an hour ago and already I am being told to "look!" at how well her jacket and jersey go-together and how she can pull her jersey-sleeves down to show below her jacket's wrists. Same-old-same-old. 🙄 Hope that she sleeps in a short while; I have things to do upstairs.
EGADS! Poor G, he doesn't seem to be able to get any EASY times these days! What a weird accident! (Another reason to dislike WalMart stores.) I sure hope he has no lasting effects from being conked by a falling sign.
I have received a jury summons only once in my life, years ago, and fortunately it was cancelled on the day in question. Hope to never find another notice in the mail during the remainder of my life-span!
Phone has rung two times already with no names next to the phone # being called from. Nannie expects a full report on anything when my phone rings, especially if I end up NOT answering it. And if I talk to someone she wants to know who and why. That phone rings once and her head turns so she's looking at me like she is expecting bad news, and she keeps staring at me until I say something. Whatever I say, she makes a look of disgust about things like the cold-calls made by various companies, and people wanting to know if *I* want to sell *my* house.
Yesterday when we were out, she was continually amazed about how many cars were out on the roads. Um, yes, that is what roads are for, to drive on. People have lives, and things to do, places to go, people to see....and this area is rife with population growth. I am a jinx, because every time I move to a 'small-ish' town, it grows to the point of being unbearable. Pretty soon there will be no places that aren't crowded and over-run with people and stores.
I remember seeing a quote one time that said, "I hope there is still a place that nobody has ever seen, and I hope nobody ever sees it."
Stars, I love that quote.
Dianah, bowling went well for me personally but my team mates not so much and we won only one game. Our opponents were the powerhouse 2nd place team and were just too tough.
George "passed" his neuro exam and it sounds like the PA did a very thorough one and saw no concerns to warrant doing anything at this point. I think he went mainly for peace of mind but also good. The PA asked a peculiar question in that was here there for a lawyer or for himself. She said there's two ways to document and file it. Weird. But he has no plans to get a lawyer as these things happen, unless someone untoward happens to him.
I did well mopping and sweeping the house and prepping lunches for the coming days at work. I missed a message to come in for a sick coworker. The message came at the same time G was texting me at the office and it slipped by. But the message also said a bit later "ignore as we found someone else". They would have paid a $400 bonus for coming in. They are very free with the bonuses because of our high census and "anyone can work anytime, but no guarantee on your regular unit, but a place in need." Guess I really should start signing up for extra shifts with my impending expenses. But really, how did I get to be my age and worry about working overtime so as not to get in debt or fall behind? Sigh.....
I do appreciate everyone listening to me lately. Thanks so much if you're reading my posts.
Well, I'm glad G checked out OK but ow!
87 and sunny (the sun is *bright* and the sky is *blue*) here. A cold front expected around Halloween. Hubs doesn't want to put out the skeleton and pirate stuff until the weekend before Halloween because he thinks people will be more likely to mess with it.
I could use some OT shifts. LOL. It looks like we'll be paying stepson's rent until such time as he might actually get approved for disability. He and his dad have been talking every day (stepson is bored, lonely, and anxious). Hubs would like to bring him out here (there is NO room in the house!) but with all we went through to set up our niece as his guardian (in Indiana) ... I just don't know. We need to at least wait until he can get disability and not further disrupt things. And, no, we don't just easily have another $1000/month. So, yeah, a way to make a little extra $$ would be good.
I think I'll stir-fry some beef, cabbage, and carrots tonight.
A confused day for Nannie. I had to take her to the bathroom 6 or 7 times in about a 2 hour period. The first time she peed and pooped, but didn't even know she had pooped! The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th time, she said she had to poop, but did nothing at all. The 6th time, she didn't know why she wanted to get up, but pointed up the stairs. I had to tell her the doctor said she was not allowed to go upstairs because she is 95 years old and unsteady, and if she were to fall, I'd have to call the ambulance. Naturally that stopped her from wanting to go upstairs. But then she wanted to get up again, and I asked why she needed to get up, she told me she had to go out to the backyard. Why? She said she was going to poop out there. I took her in the bathroom again, and she said she didn't have to poop, but she just wanted to check the towels she'd done decorative needlework on, maybe 25+ years ago. Ohhhhh-kay!
Back in the den, she talked on and on for quite a while and I couldn't understand a single word she said. But when I told her I couldn't understand what she was trying to tell me, finally she fell back on talking about her jacket and the jersey sleeves, which she kept showing me like ,,,well, it seemed when she was TRYING to explain and show me something ....about how she had this sleeve, and this sleeve, and the two fronts of the jacket that had buttons, and amazingly enough it all matched. It seemed to surprise her when I told her that each aspect was attached to the others, because it is one jacket, and not 7 separate parts, each to put on separately.
I did a lot of breathing exercises to avoid blowing up with frustration. She CAN'T make any sense, it is an impossibility to her. It made me woozy to spend an afternoon like that, though. At one point I wanted to call Sil or BiL and tell them to get her put in a nursing home ASAP, like NOW! And to think it could keep on like this, only getting WORSE as time goes by. I am going to tell them that they are going to have to come up with some just-in-case alternatives, because one of these days.... 🤨it will be impossible for me to handle, and what will they do then?
Well SiL will have her tomorrow, I hope Nannie goes very nutty on her, That's a terrible thing to say, but they don't spend enough time with her to get the full picture of 24/7 with her. If I had money or a place to go, I could turn it ALL over to them completely, but dammit, this is 'posta gonna be MY house, and IT IS ALL I HAVE (or rather, will have, if Nannie EVER goes out into the ethers) and I just can't throw it away.
We had over 50 skinny Robins in the backyard this afternoon, and they usually show up around March, but it ain't even November yet. I'm not quite sure what it means, Maybe it's a bad case of Climate Confusion?
Going to go get some of my pain meds early, because this is the 2nd or 3rd day that these ol' knees have been achin'.
One hour and 15 minutes until Nannie goes to bed,
Sitting here playing trivia, arguing with ds because he cheats by looking up the answers on his phone. Sigh. I tried out 2 new cookie recipes, I'm not thrilled with either: pumpkin with milk chocolate chips, and molasses cinnamon. Oth gave me heartburn.
It does seem that Nannie is deteriorating. Bless you, Stars.
I hope things go better for G. Didn't Walmart used to have a motto of look out for falling prices? Sorry, my bad .

Tweety here's hoping that you don't end up needing a new roof, just repairs
Ado I sometimes end up skipping church, if it conflicts with something else
Hi Dianah
Stars hope you feel more awake and sleep better tonight
NJ22 glad you're not getting sick. I've generally found mindfulness helpful
Yesterday turned out to be the busiest day at work in weeks, had a new case to boot. And I had a little catching up to do from being off, although thankfully not much. Did have time to take lunch and do the laundry then, was hoping to leave early as I had started early, but no dice. Again did a good job using the various techniques not to (mostly) avoid getting stressed or angry
Was very thankfully that when I called in to see if I was needed as a standby juror, I was told I was not needed and would be called to be a juror some other time. Which definitely makes things easier. Rest of the day was quiet, just exercised
Today will do the grocery shopping after work and exercise, but should be an ordinary day apart from that
Will be a bit cooler today, but still unusually warm in the mid 70s
