Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good day. I bought my prior car from Carmax and it was a good experience. I looked online and picked out what I wanted to look at first.
Stars, I hate those rock and a hard place situations: "you need his birth certificate for...." "we're not giving you a birth certificate". Too bad he spent that insurance money.
Been to the grocery store and will prep a bit. Best friend got some museum tickets to a glass museum I haven't been to in a couple of years and they expire today so we're going to check it out. Not sure if they have anything new. The library system gives away a limited number of free tickets to local museum. Best friend loves free stuff.
Our nice weather is slipping away. Rain predicted for the next two days. Youngest ds had his DOT physical today, and he likely has Type 2 DM. I've been trying to warn him, but it you know how it goes. So they drew some blood, he's to follow up with his PCP next week. He has a conditional OK on his physical for 3 months. Better to find out before the bad stuff sets in, but he was bummed out.
Stars, I would hope there is some sort of advocate who can help with the red tape. Senior Center? Your lawyer? A social worker at your doctors office?
Cool and getting cooler, light rain sprinkling here and there. Nannie says it is getting dark... but that's because of the clouds. Wait until NEXT week, Nannie, as it WILL be dark earlier than it has been doing. They keep talking about daylight savings time going away "someday, but not yet." People aren't agreeing whether we should have standard time permanently, or daylight savings times all the time. Wonder what "they" will end up doing. And who the heck are "they" to make this decision? If it is politicians, there will be the usual R. v.s D. Oh yippee, that'll be fun. (NOT!) ...or, will it be the Supreme(ly stupit) Court?
Yah, so, more laundry is being done; speaking of which, I have to get stuff out of the dryer, and put more stuff in the washer. I sneaked out to the grocery store without Momo. Boy, did she ever give me grief when I got back! Yap-yap-yap-whine-whine! Would not stop until I sat down and held her for a few minutes. Now she is snugged up against me, resting.
BiL got the Ford's tag and insurance cancelled. YAY! One less thing to do. (and 74.3 more things to go?) I am a laggard, as I have not pulled boxes out from under my bed to search for what I need, certificate-wise. Tsk-tsk. HAVE TO do it tonight or tomorrow.
Tomorrow, SiL will come after she gets off work, so I can go to the hairdresser's at 4 PM. That'll make me feel somewhat better.
I got some (real, as opposed to canned or frozen) vegetables at the store, as I am planning to make Nannie and I an omelet Friday evening for supper with mushrooms, green onions, and cheese. I got myself a few avocados and more Greek kalamata (sp?) olives, neither of which Nannie cares for. Picked up one tomato, also; maybe we'll have some 'mater snamiches Saturday.
Finished my decaf, so I'd better get to the laundry again, or I'll be cussing myself for leaving it half done.
Hello all!
I got little sleep last night, most of when I slept was after 6am. So I got in a nap after lunch. I have so much I could do here, but am not organized or motivated. Guess I need more German genes...
We cancelled two trips we had planned, worried about spending the money. We are concentrating on doing some household maintenance, so didn't want to be away for the few days, and didn't want to spend the money on hotel, eating out, paying for pet care while we were gone. It was a difficult decision to make, to cancel both, but we finally made it, and "that's the way it is today." So we will be around this weekend, and in consolation, dh made reservations for us to go to Disneyland on Monday. We will get our steps in, and since we have the Magic Pass, the cost will be a fraction of what the weekend would have cost. Having cancelled the weekend trip, we will miss jamming with friends, but hope to do that in the future.
We did our music Sunday afternoon at the church. I had posted about the Santa Ana winds, and boy, as soon as the sun went down, it turned CHILLY!! We left after we did the music, and enjoyed a meal out with our bass player. I think I got a little chilled, as Monday and today I felt sniffly. So I am taking it easy, and declined doing my Tuesday walk with friends. The wind has died down today, and it was a warm 78 degrees, which felt nice.
Happy Halloween everyone! And here comes November and December!!
Have a good evening!
As Rosanne Rosannadanna used to say, "It just goes to show you, it's ALWAYS something."
Unable to find copies of my Birth Certificate or Marriage License; probably they have rotted down in the shed these past 7 + 1/2 years.
All set to apply on-line for copies of my birth certificate and copy of our marriage license. Can't fill out the official form on one site, and can't pay for it on-line on the other site (they want me to open a uni-pay account) and I can't send a copy of my driver's license on-line. Will have to call the Vital Records departments in Mass and NC in the AM.
As me ol' grandfather used to say: CRIPES!

Tweety after having left a year ago I would have thought they would let it go. But churches are institutions resistant to change
Stars I am surprised that they make it so difficult for a spouse to get a birth certificate, though not surprised that Social Security is hard too get hold of. I wonder if there are organizations that could assist
Hi NJ22
Ado I'm glad the test results turned out good
Work was busy yesterday, got a lot of documents to review and probably a lot of stuff that got delayed because I left early Friday. I'm hoping that things will calm down today, although we have 2 people off today and the one I am covering for just got a new case....
Rest of the day was uneventful. Exercised and mostly stayed in. Wasn't feeling that well, I tried adding intermittent fasting to my usual calorie counting but it ended up upsetting my stomach for most of the day. So I guess that't not an option for me. Have begun the car search again, think I will return to my original plan for a used Prius. Might give Carmax a shot as my local dealer has nothing I'm interested in
Should be a fairly quiet night tonight. I've never gotten trick or treaters here
Going to be quite cold today, only up to the upper 30s with snow possible
