NJ22 hope you feel better

Ado is that The Grapes of Wrath?

Stars glad your DH is easing up on the drinking

Dianah I hope your DH feels better

Work wasn't too bad yesterday, and hopefully today will be better still as we only will have 1 person out

I was having some stomach issues yesterday, along with being fairly tired.  Covid test was negative.  Felt better by the end of the day.  Hopefully will  continue to feel better today

Managed to get the remainder of my Christmas shopping done yesterday, all online this year.   Had enough energy to exercise a bit

Today might get started on knitting again, should have time tonight now that the shopping  is done

Will be in the mid 50s today, might get some rain.  Will be in the mid 30s by tomorrow

Wow, Joe, having your Christmas shopping done is quite the accomplishment! Yes, I'm reading the The Grapes of Wrath (never read it before, but loved East of Eden). Simultaneously, I'm reading The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles. It takes place in 1954 and begins with 2 brothers (one of them just out of reform school because he slugged a guy who then died) who live in Nebraska and plan to take the Lincoln Highway to San Francisco. Odd that I have both of these right now. And mildly confusing.

It's a beautiful, sunny 69 degrees right now. I went out and grabbed some lunch and parked on the hill to eat it. I sure miss having the taco truck within walking distance.

Stars, I just keep hoping that your dh will commit to sobriety.

Well, back to trying to understand the MIPS requirements.

I wish I had some gifts obtained. But dh usually buys so much so that anything I give is overshadowed. I like to give time and experiences.
I am at work doing our data base review that is supposed to be short and sweet.

very nice OCD coworker is still talking about one patient 15 minutes in. So I likely won’t need to talk at all. And my belly is really starting to hurt.
Dh fell down the icy front steps last night. No scratches or breaks, just sore. And it is starting to snow again.
Need to go, my turn to talk.

GOOD GRIEF! This was not the "Girl's Day Out" we had planned to get our hair done. When we got the new salon (same hairdresser), there was a slight downhill slope from the parking area and the hairdresser had just had a new cement walkway laid last week, with new curbing. Nannie started tipping to her right, and my arm was under her left shoulder. So, I switched over to having my arm under her right shoulder, whereupon she lifted her left foot to get up on the sidewalk, and her toe didn't clear the curb, and she went down onto the left side of her face! She got a gouge above her left eyebrow that looks like an animal bit a chunk out of her, and under her left eye was all abraded. She 'baptized' the new sidewalk with her blood.

So, on to the ER...to wait and wait and wait. Around the sixth hour they put us in a treatment bay. E-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y the doctor came in, and a little after that, she put nine stitches in Nannie's forehead. Nannie behaved pretty well! I told the doc I was going to put Tegaderm on both areas when we got home, and she said that sounded fine. I figure the Tegaderm would better yield itself to NOT being pulled off, like a gauze and paper-tape bandage. (Anyone remember how many times Nannie removed the cast from her broken right wrist, a couple of years ago?)

Anyway, hubby told me he'd felt bad all day, and I wondered if HE needed to go to the hospital ER. But, thankfully, he didn't need to go! He said he had not had anything to drink all morning, and mid-afternoon, he tried to take a glug from the bottle and said he could not swallow it. He said he wasn't used to  100% vodka. He didn't want me to bring home supper for him because his stomach felt icky. But NOW, he has decided he feels better and is going to run out to McDonald's....and *I* think he might stop and get a "sleeve" of some Peach vodka, not as strong or 'rough' as the  vodka the neighbor gave him on Sunday night.

We finally got home, after stopping for a Subway sandwich to bring back with us, because we hadn't eaten anything (well, Nannie had her yogurt with her AM meds). I was STARVING! The sub shop was midway in making a dozen sandwiches for pick-up later, so we had to wait for food, too. When we got back home and settled in the den, I applied the Tegaderm, and gave Nannie a mirror so she could see her injuries. She said, "Good Gawd!" when she saw herself. I told her that she may have a black eye tomorrow and probably the rest of her will be sore, too.

dianah, I am about to finish A Foreign Affair by Caro_ _ _ _ I can't remember the last name and the book is upstairs. But, it's a good'n!

Nannie is currently telling us a LOOOONG anecdote about voting, in which barely anything makes sense. Hubby is fussing at her because she is talking through a news story he wanted to hear. And I am as tired as if I've run several marathons, so I will stop here.

G'day.  Today is a travel day.  I'm enjoying the trip.

I wrote this earlier but ran into a dead zone and I see it didn't post.   Had a good day.  Did a two mile hoke in a very lunch trail and had delicious Chinese food for lunch.

Lost of birds for the bird watchers.  Saw my first Tucan.

Stars glad Nannie was hurt worse.  So much drama on that house.

Good to hear from you, Tweety. Glad you're enjoying your trip. Sounds lovely. And lively, too, which is what spell-check wanted to put there.

Did I tell y'all about the new cat? A black cat started hanging around about a month ago. Hubs fed it (it seemed very hungry) so it kept coming back and yowling for food. Hubs and the boys really like this cat. So Twin B took it to our vet and it had a microchip. We have made repeated attempts to contact the person from the chip's info with no luck. I don't want to steal someone's pet. I mean, they cared enough about it to get the chip and to put a pretty little collar on it. But it looks more and more like we have another cat. I've been putting off vet visits for the other pets because the budget's been tight. But here we are. Full disclosure: it sat in my lap for over an hour tonight.

dianah, That author's name was Caro Peacock; how I could forget a last name like Peacock, I don't know! She has several more books featuring her character Liberty Lane I'd like to read; but don't worry if you don't have them I'll check the libraries in the vicinity.

I am just starting the Darcy series by Elizabeth Aston. I like to read books by the same author in the order they were written, so I'm starting with "Mr Darcy's Daughters"; the second one is "The Exploits and Adventures of Miss Althea Darcy, and the third one is "The True Darcy Spirit". I can already tell I am going to enjoy them!

I think I am going to donate books to a store called "CVAN" (?) where all the profits of used stuff they sell goes to a support one, or several, Women and Children's Safe-Houses.

And, momentarily back to the drama in this house: Nannie and Hubby were fussing at each other over several sticking points that always seem to come up between them, both self-righteous "You..." , "No, YOU! (Whatever) and I came up out of my seat and said, (and this should be in all capital letters:) "ALRIGHT THE BOTH OF YOU! HUSH! No more arguing. I don't care who did what when and what was meant by it, but it's been a LONG, noisy day at the ER and I am BONE tired, and I'm tired of hearing you argue, So, Enough is ENOUGH!"

They both immediately shut up. I don't often get riled, but when I do, people will KNOW IT! Honestly I didn't grow up in a family that gets like this one gets when they are just mad and saying things back and forth. And they SHOUT, they don't just argue. Nobody wins.

I'm glad hubby's never been like that with me! I heard him tall someone once, "Well, she won't argue. She just doesn't, She tells me what she feels and thinks and that's that." ( But, I also will revisit subjects that need a little, shall we say, review and reminder.)

I am now alone in my private, quiet room, and I am starting to feel a bit better. The commotions I was surrounded by today are enough to last me for a year! Thank God that tomorrow is another day!

Back to Mr Darcy's Daughters!
