Good afternoon!
Ado, how is the cat?
I remember my dad having a rattle from a rattle snake in a box of mementos he kept. Guess they were a thing in the Texas dessert too.
Up from a mid-morning nap. The last week drained me more than I thought, especially with my new annoying habit of rising way too early. But I'm having a cup of coffee and reviving. Will go the to the grocery store and make a mushroom spaghetti sauce I found on a facebook group.
Have a great day!
Hello~
It is mid-afternoon and as usual, Nannie is sleeping in the recliner and hubby went upstairs to rest in bed....his stomach is starting to feel bloated and achey. Not surprised; when I went out on the front porch to drink my coffee, he drove back from---he said he was at a down-the-street neighbor's house where he had sold his truck to the kid there, and now the kid and his dad have decided to sell the truck. I just assume when he drives back to the house from that direction, he has been to the ABC store. Doesn't matter anyway, just means sameoldsameold.
He still has not called the doctor's office; he said his foot is not as swollen as it was after the fire-ants' bites. And this business with his stomach hurting and bloated has been going on for quite a long time, too; AND I really, really believe he has an enlarged prostate, but he doesn't want that 'digital examination'. In one way I understand he doesn't want to go to the doctor because he has not been exactly compliant about anything...even the B vitamins prescribed. If you a want a good hearty laugh, listen to this: "I don't think I need all that, and I don't like taking so many pills all the time." ( Yeh, right?)
My sister kind of flipped out when I told her how hubby has been doing. I did say that I wondered if I'd be a widow by the end of the year. She sent me a kind of panicky email about being sure about will's and who gets what and all that. I told her he wasn't on his death bed and all our wills had all been settled way back when we first moved here. I'd just as soon he sticks around and that Nannie "crosses the rainbow bridge," but what will be will be. It's just that hubby has so many things wrong with him that could become abruptly to the point of being crucial at any time, I'm kind of bracing myself by not expecting any miracles about his health or mindset.
He said he is not going to eat supper....or, he said he might fix himself a sandwich later. So in a little while I'm going out to get Nannie and I a "Monster" foot-long from Subway, and we can split it.
I also have to get some antibiotic ointment for my right forefinger which I punctured two days ago ... on the sugar holder. The metal thing that tightly seals the container is all woppy-jawed and my hand slipped. I didn't know it was anything but a pinch, until the blood started dripping and I said, "HUH?, WTH?" Got me a bandid. The area is a bit red and slightly swollen; I soaked it in salted hot water, and now I need to make sure it heals. (ie: without infection)
I have an appt w/ the PCP tomorrow morning; I guess it is a follow-up for when he sent in the prescription for the Paxil 10 mg, per my request, but w/o an office visit.
Hubby has decided to come down to the den. He asked me to pick him up a six-inch steak and cheese sub.
All for now....
Hugs, Stars.
For those who saw my post that I accidentally put under May 10 (!), it turns out that Binx the cat was shot with a BB gun in his left thigh. The BB went through the muscle and is under the skin at his knee. He got another pain shot today and some NSAID pills for the next 3 days. No xrays were done because (a) the emergency vet was quite busy and was going to be closing AND they were afraid of sedating him because of his heart murmur, and (b) our regular vet didn't think it necessary -- no signs of fracture. The emergency vet considered subq fluids but again was worried about fluid overloading him with his heart condition. He also has a cone of shame in case he wants to lick at the wound, but so far I don't think that's a problem. I'm just mad and disgusted that someone would do a thing like that. Our other 2 cats don't go outside but this one wants to SO BADLY that we started letting him, first with supervision, and then without. I panicked a little last night when he limped across the driveway when I got home. I think Hubs would have a really hard time forgiving himself if he let the cat out and it ended up dying. Binx is just going to have to accept being an indoor cat. Maybe we can come up with a "catio" for him.
We had a class to renew our BLS certification today.
Aw, poor kitty. I hope he heals quickly.
Thankfully the weather has cooled to the mid 70s. I got flowers planted and the grass cut. I was going to do laundry but dh has his stuff in the machines, and I don't feel like taking care of his stuff today. We are going out to a brewery tonight that is hosting a fundraiser for eldest ds's bike ride this Summer. He has pledged to shave his scruffy mustache if they raise $1000. Here's hoping.
NoStars, I suppose your sister is concerned for your welfare. From the sounds of things, Mr. Stars' family could be very selfish.
I know when I turned 60 it felt like a switch had been thrown on my endurance. I can't believe I used to work 16 hour shifts.
Poor Binx! I hope he heals well. It just angers me to think of someone shooting at -- I was going to put, a domestic animal but let's change that to ANY animal!
We have had a quiet day. I have a load of laundry in the washer and one in the dryer. My little "garden" of one cherry tomato plant and one bell pepper plant and one basil plant, is doing well. I think the plants are enjoying the warmer temperatures. It was 79 yesterday when we arrived home.
I made vegetarian Ruben sandwiches for dinner; we always like them. :)
Hope you have a good evening.

Ado I realized the zinnias I have will grow too big for a flowerpot
Stars Oklahoma does seem to be a prime state for bad weather

Thanks for sharing the pictures Dianah
NJ22 it is unusual to do meatloaf in a crock pot but it usually turns out pretty good
Work was quite busy yesterday, kept going quick right up until the end. Think today will be easier, no one will be off today, unlike yesterday
After that tiring day at work I didn't do a whole lot except exercise
Tonight should be another quiet night, not much going on
Supposed to be quite warm today, up to the upper 70s/lower 80s
