Good morning!
I missed the eclipse as well. I wanted to see it and apparently there was good visibility but forgot and went to bed.
I'm so thankful my parents don't have dementia. Dad did say on my last visit that mom is forgetful. It didn't seem pronounced to me but a time or two she asked me something that she had already asked earlier in the day.
I'm having a "4-point inspection" for homeowners insurance today. One of the 4 points is the roof and I have some old stains in my garage from a leak years ago when they were putting on a new roof and it rained. It never bothered me but might bite me in the inspection. Apparently there is a do dad they have that they put up on the stain and tells them if there is moisture in the roof. Fingers crossed that there is no moisture and I pass the inspection. My only resort is to try to get on the state run homeowners insurance because private companies aren't writing here and when they do it's out of my price range. Even the state run agency raised rates 10% his past year.
This has weighed heavy on my mind and I'll be glad to get this inspection over even if it's bad news. Crazy thing I expect bad news. I should work on my attitude and negative projection.
Anyway, I did have a nice visit with my sister and niece. We spent two hours having lunch and enjoyed our time. My niece's daughter caught covid last week but no one in the house caught it. Sometimes I forget about covid.
My coworker's house was flooded last November and she had been fighting with her insurance and FEMA ever since. She is going to have a loss of about $100,000 that won't be reimbursed. And the insurance company policy canceled her insurance. She, her dh and son are still living with her parents, and her house is still uninhabitable. There is a reason I don't live any where close to a body of water!
Weather here is partly cloudy, in the 50s. A big storm is predicted for tomorrow, heavy rain and winds. I was up in the night because of pain, and dh got up sort of whining about needing medical advice for his cold-like symptoms. He is or was scheduled for a meeting and did I think he should go, considering one of the attendees is recovering from cancer? NO! I did a COVID test that was negative. So at 5 am he drove to work to get his computer so he could participate in a Zoom meeting at home. I went back to bed, and just before he left, he came in and kissed my forehead. Ack! I hope I don't get sick now.
I rather like dh's cousins. When I first met them, I was overwhelmed because it seemed like there was so many. But they are funny, and kind. August is probably the best month here, as long as it isn't too smoky. September may be better.
Good day to all!
We are watching the Braves game, accompanied by Nannie's observations. Here are her first six comments in the first half of the first inning:
Look! This guy's skin is so smooth; Now that guy looks sick, and THAT one is OLD; Eeeeauw, that guy's teeth are too big; If that man knew what his hair looks like, he wouldn't wear it like that; Look that one looks too YOUNG to be playing. (Oh, and the topper: ) "I don't understand how they can tell what they are all doing, there's so many men on the field." .....?
Hubby is being loudly dismayed over certain plays by whichever team is up. Is there any Pest company that can eliminate The Peanut Gallery from your home?
So, yeah my knee is better because I decided it might be a good idea to take the pain med (non-narc OTC) 3x/d, instead of just in the AM and the late PM. Huh, funny how that works. (duh.)
Hubby is still c/o his stomach and belly, and I calmly told him, "Alright, when you go back to the doc for follow-up, have them make an appt for you for a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. You've tried this, and thought it might be that, but you are still having pain, so you really need to find out what's going on. If something can be done to make a difference, maybe you can get rid of whatever-it-is." His next appt c/ PCP isn't until mid-June. He said, "I don't understand, do they just not care? I could be dead by the time they give me an appt." If it's that bad, he needs to go to the ER; on the other hand the last two times he did go to the ER, the docs "didn't do anything." ?♀️?♀️
Okay, so I blinked, so....Joe, have you already gone to Madison and/or are you just getting back? I know you said it was just going to be a short trip, but maybe not this short...?
Tweety, Hope your 4-point inspection is done and over, and that your house squeaked by and passed.
j22, YOW! Your co-worker's insurance woes are disheartening. Losing out on all that and getting cancelled to boot! // Hope your dh's symptoms and his peculiar ? concerns and understandings about 'health' cease and desist! I'd hate to see my hubby and yours comparing symptoms in the same room...OY!
Yabba-dabba-doooo!
PS: Here' what hubby had for supper: A bacon and tomato sandwich on rye toast with mayo and extra bacon, sweet potato fries, and a hot dog with chili and mayo on it, AND some of the country-fried steak that Nannie had ordered, but could not finish; plus Pepsi-zero.(ick to Pepsi-0!)
GOOD GRIEF, CHARLIE BROWN! No wonder his belly hurts!
So sorry, J22. It does make things more difficult. I hope he gets better quickly.
Must be the day for upset tummies. I came home and helped Twin B finish getting dinner ready. Hubs came in, looking disgusted, and took some Pepto Bismol and some something and stomped back to the bedroom. When I told him dinner was ready he growled that he wouldn't be coming. Later when he wasn't feeling quite so bad we discussed things like bacteria, viruses, food sensitivities, and irritable bowels. He says he's had a lot more trouble the past 6 months or so. He had a colonoscopy not long ago that was fine -- some diverticuli but that's all.
Ima save my other rant for another day. I'm supposed to be turning off the screens a lot earlier than this.
1 hour ago, nursej22 said:?And dh's home covid test is positive tonight. And he has a fever of 101.7, and a cough. He will call his doc in the am and hopefully get some of the antiviral stuff. And I have to stay home, and test on day 5. I could say so many bad words right now.
I would be happy to go out in the back yard and say all those bad words for you, OUT LOUD! I used to work with some ex-Marines at MGH, my first year in nursing. I tell you what, I learned so well from them that one might be walking down the hallway toward me, and they had quit teasing me like they did at first, and he would walk by and smile and just shake his head. Now when you can surprise and embarrass a Marine, you KNOW you're good! And I am. But generally speaking I'm somewhat demure, in a goofy kind of way. But I have learned to cuss acceptable substitutes (in the South, you know...) and a lot of time, I know this might be hard to believe, but a lot of time I'm just plain quiet.
But all kidding aside: ((((((((((j22))))))))))
