Tweety I find I need to wear a hat when in the sun, as my hair has gotten thinner

NJ22 I only rarely see hummingbirds around here

Stars that was obnoxious of your step dgt to say something like that

Glad the flooring  is done Davey

Hi Amo and Dianah

Ado I still sometimes get anxiety making calls despite it being my job for the last 10 years

Fairly good day at work yesterday, not too busy, unlike last week.  Got stuff done without having to rush

Quiet evening too, dropped off library books and then exercised

Should be another fairly quiet day today too

Will be rainy today and in the 50s, think it will be in the 40s and 50s most of the rest of the week

Good morning!

Joe, I don't think I would like making calls all the time.  Yes, I do have to make calls when I do Case Mgmt, but I'd rather just work behind-the-scenes and arrange things and have someone else call.  But, I understand calls are part and parcel of Case Mgmt. ?  Bless you for what you do!

Dh woke up this morning and told me he had a dream that I got LED braces on my teeth.  He was appalled and shocked.  Then he realized it was just a dream.  Then he thought, kids would LOVE those!  I wonder if they make them?  Turns out (after a little digging), he found Saudi Arabia is making a prototype of these, with medicinal advantages over standard braces!  The LED lights AND the pressure on the teeth, stimulates growth (repositioning) better.  Each tooth would have a light and a little battery unit.  Amazing.  We are shaking our heads!

Today is get-a-few-errands-done day.  Temps are supposed to reach 80 and skies to be clear.

Have a good one!

LED braces, eh? ? Well, that could add some pizzazz to jamming!

Ah, the calls, and the return calls, and phone tag. Only 7 more months for me. And I only need to do it 3 days a week, so it's not terrible. I had a job where I worked intake for Visiting Nurse, and got all the return calls from MD offices that the field nurses' messages. This was before cell phones, so nurses would place a call in the home and then have to go to their next visit. I got tendinitis in my shoulder from cradling the receiver as I wrote notes and orders. And my job was to call insurances to check on coverage, which consisted of a lot of transfers, and then dropped calls. Back in the day of $100 deductibles.

Ooh, new flooring, sounds nice. And a lot of work!

Ado, were you affected by the storms?

Weather is intermittent showers, temp up to 56. ?" We're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave..." ?

Good afternoon!

Davey, congrats on finishing the new flooring.  I would have paid a fortune to have someone due to because I'm not handy.

Stars, sorry your Step-Daughter said that.  I really hate being misjudged like that.

Ado, I don't like making calls and don't like answering the phone.  Even if it's someone I know I let 99% of calls go to voice mail.

Dianah, what does getting your RV "smogged" mean?

J22, enjoy the heatwave.

Joe, hope you have a quiet day.

My sleep was so bad I got up around 1:00AM for a couple of hours and took .5 mg of klonopin and was able to sleep some more finally.

Bowling was a disaster.  One of our opponents decided he was going to bowl his best night ever and I decided I wasn't going to rise to the occasion and bowled horribly.  After 8 weeks in first place we plummeted down to 3rd place.  Not too shabby to be in third place, but it was a painful fall.

Had a good visit with my financial advisor.  I went in person and their new offices are quite modern and casual.  There is a coffee shop in the middle and people all over the place with their laptops, holding meetings and working in a large space, a nice balcony and their office was quite lovely.

Apparently, if things go according to plan I can change my retirement from age 70 to age 68 without taking my SSI until I'm 70 and still be able to retire.  He said "there's no reason to work until you're 70 unless you like working".  My answer was a big fat "hell no to that".  LOL.  Lots of variable could happen and he said we can re-evaluate in a year and that we should meet at least annually until then.

Really tired, so will probably be a slug the rest of the day.

Tweety, great news about your retirement, especially retiring age 68 rather than 70!  I vote YES!  And, getting a vehicle "smogged" means you have to go to a station to have it checked and certified that it meets smog emission standards set by the state.  A compliance report is generated (once the vehicle passes), and THEN you are able to send in your registration renewal payment.

Bowling, ugh.  But, I agree: the pressure is off and now just have fun.  Whenever we perform, I remind myself that ANYTHING can happen!  I will have sung a particular song hundreds of times, in private and in front of ppl, and there's always a chance of the one time performing, that I suddenly draw a blank to the words or 'how does this song start?' or something.  Maybe related to performance anxiety, I dunno.  But the goal is to have fun and do the best you can. ?

I got my errands done and am waiting on dh so we can drive up to Oak Glen for a bit.

Later!

Yeah, after I mostly got over step-dgt's remarks, I said to myself, "Well, consider the source." One of the reasons she doesn't like me is that two times early on, when I felt I had to say something to her,  I wrote her a long note. It made her cry. She told her dad that she hoped to never, ever get another letter from me; thing was, of course, that I hit the nail on the head, and changing metaphors, I 'called her' on her behavior. It wasn't a matter of who was right and who was wrong, but my words pinned her down and she didn't like that. It wasn't an argument, it was a strong, true statement. (Don't mess with me!)

Um, LED teeth, each tooth with it's own battery? Uh-uh, ain't NOBODY gonna put BATTERIES in my mouth! Think of all the things that have burst into flames due to a battery going wonky. Someone else might like to have burning words pour out their mouth...say, a preacher-man, or a politician, but not me! I keep my 'burning words' for the page....reference previous paragraph re my obnoxious step-dgt!

Hubby has gone to get the car cleaned out and washed. He is also going to the bank for me, as I discovered last night I only have ONE check left. I had ordered Nannie's checks in January, and looking back in the checking-log, I see the last order I made for our checks was in December! I can't order on line because I don't remember my password, and their phone is answered "We're sorry, but all representatives are currently busy with customers. You may contact us at www...blah, blah, blah. Or app-this, app-that, or make your call again later." They never answer the calls made later, either. What's the point of having a business phone if you can't get through to the business? // BAH. Hubby just called me and said that they told him an order for 'overnight' or 2 day delivery is $100--. I don't think so! I told him to take the 5-7 business-days order, and I reckon we'll have to deal in cash until they come. Although there are a few bills to pay, but I'll figure that out a little later.

It is another beautiful sunny day in the low 70's. Nannie keeps asking if we're going to have rain. She sees the network weather map/report, and always thinks that the forecast means we are 'in the path' of some storm going on elsewhere. Nope, it's coming from the West and going North of us. AND: She wants us to wake her up if the weather gets bad. HA! 'Cause she can't worry when she's asleep, I guess. smh.

"Our" carpenter bee is currently battling another carpenter bee, in a territorial dispute. Chasing over the top of the hedges and then circling closer to each other and bumping, bumping heads, and the loser goes off and comes back from another angle. I am happy not to be a carpenter bee. It must be exhausting!

All for the moment~

Hey, all!

Joe -- I actually left this hospital once, and that was mainly because they got rid of our case manager and expected the nurses to do it on top of everything else. I'll second dianah's "Bless you for what you do!"

dianah -- LED braces, who knew? Aren't dreams crazy? Last night I had a really apocalyptic dream. I was with my parents in the house I grew up in, but my current age and with the current political climate. My cell phone had an alarm that said "Air attack" or something like that, and sure enough outside there were missiles and red smoke. I knew the end was coming. LOL, what a cold war baby I am!

J22 -- the tornados were SE of us, near Lake Texoma. We do have a friend who has a cabin there, and need to check with him to see if he had any damage. We just had rain and today is chilly and overcast.

Tweety -- it's encouraging to think of retiring a little sooner! Good for you!

Stars -- Grandma was always terrified of tornados. If she realized where we are she'd not handle it well. One of her oft-told tales was of driving to Colorado from Indiana when her husband was returning from overseas deployment (maybe when he came back from Korea). She and another young woman drove together and got a motel room somewhere along the way. When the weather report came on and they talked about tornadoes, Grandma made the other girl *leave* with her and *drive* which of course was about the worst thing they could have done, but you couldn't ever tell her that.

Tomorrow after work a much needed haircut and then choir practice.

After I saw The Wizard of Oz on TV (in the late 1950's?), I had periodic nightmares about tornadoes. Even worse were the nightmares about an elevator I was in, which started free-falling within its shaft. Why, I don't know, because we lived in a small town not given to buildings tall enough to have any elevators! My theory in my dream was that if I kept jumping UP, maybe I'd be up in the air, instead of on the elevator floor when it landed at the bottom, there-by avoiding broken feet and legs. As if! But at age 21, after starting work on White-9 at MGH, I started having more of those elevator nightmares. Because, to add to the fear factor was the fact that the bank of elevators we took had a nasty habit of the doors opening when the elevator was a foot above and/or a foot below the floor it had arrived at. Gave me the creeps when an elevator door would open up above or below its floor...I can tell you, that actually, I did, for a while, walk up the stairs to the ninth floor. WHEW!

OMG...I just discovered, while traveling through the TV channels on our cable....Lo and Behold! A Spring-training baseball game with the Minnesota Twins and the ATLANTA BRAVES! w00t! Nannie is ? happy-happy-happy! And not just a little confused, not remembering some of the 'old' Atlanta players and definitely not knowing the newer players added to the team. I just remind her that today 'we' are the ones in the dark blue shirts.

Okay, I gotta watch 'em PLAY BALL!

Only a pre-season game, but ? Braves won 4-0.

Hubby and I discussed that I should call the Vet's office and make an appointment for Ozzie's demise. He has been peeing on the floor/rug quite a bit lately. I know there are doggie diapers, but at age 14 yrs 8 mo. I wouldn't even insult him  or freak him out by suddenly making him wear them. But seriously, he has been having more trouble getting up and down...an upholstered footstool, the sofa, and the stairs are all troublesome now. And his being mostly blind and deaf are problematic as well.  So~ anyway, it'll be okay, because now we know with more certainty that it is his "time". ❣️?
