Tweety the beach must be nice at sunset

Ado I hope your headache  has gone

NJ22 hope you didn't hurt your knee too bad

Stars that would be frustrating

Had a not too busy day at work, which was nice.  Hoping that continues today

After work ran to to library to pick up the book Braiding Sweetgrass, which I had heard about on an NPR show.  Exercised afterwards.  J is still  having allergy issues, though mine have been pretty good

Not much going on today, might vacuum a bit after exercising

Will be in the 70s today, should be a dry day

Good morning.

Joe, hope the day is good to you.

Ado, hope that you're feeling better.

Doing some housework and cooking today.  Hot yoga this morning later.  Routine day planned.

Met my new optometrist and I liked him well enough.  He ran for city counsel last year and is 35 years old with a new baby.  Now everyone I see for my medical needs is about 20 to 30 years younger than me.  When did this happen?  He said my prescription didn't change much.  For the first time I heard cataracts mentions but he said nothing to worry about for many years.  I ordered a new pair of glasses.  Even with insurance it was still about $350.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Tweety, your comment about supporting male gay writers made me think of a recent experience. Years ago I picked up P.S. Your Cat is Dead in an airport bookshop, knowing nothing about it. Was surprised but entertained by it. Since then, I'd seen maybe one mention of it in all these years. But the other day Hubs and I were watching a movie and talking about actor Sal Mineo. Hubs told me he had been murdered but he didn't remember much more so I looked it up on the interwebs. Anyway, he was in rehearsals for a stage production of P.S. Your Cat is Dead when he was killed.

We woke to a thunderstorm this morning at 0600 that was quite a storm, although no golf-ball sized hail as was predicted. We had power at home but the hospital and much of this end of town lost power. And the hospital's generator didn't work although it passed its monthly test on Friday. Apparently water got into the circuit boards and now we're waiting for a new power supply board. But power was restored after about an hour. We had just one patient on the floor, but several waiting at admissions for lab work, xray, etc.

Hope you all have a good day.

Hello all!

Joe, I'll be interested in your review of the new book.  I looked it up and while it was given many five-star reviews, there were some who were not as enamored of the book, for various reasons.  It looks interesting, though.

Tweety, yah, 350 for glasses sounds right.  I usually get blended trifocals, so my glasses come out to that much.  Good your eyes aren't changing much, though.

Ado, that's scary, about the hospital losing power!!  Good it was restored fairly quickly.  Do you have a "season" of thunderstorms?

Dh's fever disappeared yesterday, hope it remains gone today.  He felt shaky, though, and continued to have a productive cough.  Hopefully he will eat a little more today and gain some strength.  I tested and, again, was negative.  I feel fine.

Yesterday I did a few grocery-related errands.  Practiced guitar for a bit.  I am trying to practice daily, learning new techniques.  Old dogs trying to learn new tricks!  The luthier did a wonderful job on my guitar, it sounds good!    I feel very lucky to have two nice guitars, now.

We filled out our ballots last night, and I will drop them by the fire station today.  Lots of state positions up for change.  We need some change.

Have a good day!

I’m rather surprised that my knee isn’t very sore at all today. A little swollen, and I’m keeping a bandaid on the abrasion to keep it from rubbing on my pants. It’s a little puffy, but I was able to run a couple of miles. This was after a dental cleaning and checkup. Only issue is thin enamel on my front incisors. I’ve had that for years, but they seemed to really notice it last year. Nothing to do about it, just be careful. OK, been doing that for 40 years, will continue, LOL.

When we lived in Idaho, the old hospital was limping along, structure-wise, until the new one was built. While I was in training there, every time there was a storm the firefighters would respond, in case the power went out and the vented patients had to be bagged.
I looked up that book Joe, looks interesting.

Tweety, that sounds about what my glasses cost, with progressive and light weight lenses. I’m sure you will look dashing in them!

Dianah, good that your dh’s fever is down. Mine ended up with an albuterol inhaler that he says helps.
Another nice day and my last day off. I will do a bit more gardening—need to spray deer repellent on my roses!

J22, I need to do something about the slugs/snails eating my hostas.

dianah -- well, it *is* Oklahoma ?but the stormy season should end soon. More expected this week and then it's supposed to get really hot. Glad your knee isn't too painful. Yes, it was worrisome when the generator wouldn't work. We have to start thinking about the blood we have on hand and how long we can keep it cold enough, etc. Then the autoclave wouldn't work after the power outage, so that's being fixed, too. It does feel like we're holding things together with chewing gum and paper clips until we can move to the new facility.

Tweety, that's about what I end up spending on glasses, with progressive lenses. I got an appointment reminder today that I'm supposed to see the retina specialist for an annual checkup.

Yes.  I have progressive lenses.  A necessity at my age.  I took them right away but some people don't like them.

I can't say I've ever spent much time in a power outage.  There have been times when it's gone off for a minute or two.

Dianah.  Glad you are enjoying your new guitar and good to hear your husband's fever broke.  Hope you continue to stay negative.  Hopefully after this many days he's not as contagious.  But covid seems to be a mystery.

We're coming out of our dry season and hopefully will have a good rainy reason.  Apparently there are more lightening strikes here than anywhere in the country making us "The Lightening Capital of North America".  Our hockey team is called "The Lightening".  "Bolts" for short.  Whom by the way is playing to win the division and hopefully the Stanley Cup again.

Thankfully, while we have some fierce thunder storms, tornadoes aren't that common.  Good thing because there's no such thing as storm shelters or basements.
