Good morning.
Joe, I hope you don't get covid.
Dianah, hope you had a nice dinner out.
J22, hope your daughter gets well and her family doesn't get it. My nieces daughter had it but no one else in the house.
I once donated a bunch of used books to the library. The either put them in their own collection or when they have a book sale will use them then.
We're still having over 10,000 cases a day here and 99% of Florida is in a "highly transmittable" area or something like that. I'm sure I'll get it sooner or later as I'm not wearing a mask anymore.
Woke up around 4:00AM and had a hard time getting back to sleep. No I'm tired. Scheduled a yoga class this morning and went for an hour walk outside. Saw three rabbits. Didn't know there were wild rabbits in the suburbs here.
I didn't go to to the beach as usual to see the fireworks and forgot our bad it is here in this neighborhood. A solid hour nonstop explosions. The dogs were fine thank goodness.
Good morning!
Another weird night of broken-up sleep. Oh well.
We had a very nice visit with oldest ds, then brought him home so he could test my guitars! He is mainly a bass player, but can play some guitar. It was very nice to see him and chat. I gave him some of the Crack Slaw I'd made, for later meals. And the recipe. ?
Today? Mail books to No Stars!! And get the car washed. Nothing else planned, really.
It should be 88 degrees today, which is not bad!! Humidity in the high 20's.
Have a good day!
Hi, all!
Joe, I hope you don't get sick. Where do you do your bird-watching?
It was a decent long weekend. Twin A sort of enjoyed his little trip to Ft. Worth. He got an upset stomach and of course it was hot, hot, hot. But he used Lyft to get a couple of places, including the zoo, so he didn't do too much walking out in the heat. Took Gma with me to meet the train when he came home. She had no idea what we were doing there and within minutes of sitting down in the train station she announced that she needed to go to the bathroom. And told everyone in the station, "Well, I'm from Indiana".
The big fireworks out at the lake took place Friday night and neighbors have done a bit off and on the other days. The dogs (and cats) did get nervous, but I made sure Dory got her trazodone and she didn't have a total freak-out. Twin B and I bathed the dogs Saturday and now their fur is so soft.
Conversations with Gma can be exhausting. She was apparently trying to pick a fight with Hubs (or me) the other night and kept saying "I'm just going to die". What makes you say that? "Well, you don't want me here". No one said that. "Well, she (me) is the one that's always doing that". Doing what? "Doing that thing that makes trouble." Okay, Mom. "I'm going to die". and back around the circle with minor variations. Every time I step into the kitchen for ANY reason (wash dishes, feed the cats, give the dog medicine, get a snack, etc.) she wants to come in there, sit at the dining table, and wait to be served. Gets angry if I tell her we're not having something to eat right now. In some ways it's nice to be back at work.
I'm starting the population and sampling and extractions for reporting to CMS. Since it's my second time to do this, I feel a bit more confident than last time. Census was low over the weekend and there are no patients on the floor right now.
We watched The Buddy Holly Story last night on TMC. I hadn't seen it before and thought it was well done. Gary Busey did a great job. Also watched The Music Man, Hubs' favorite musical of all time. I think they were going to show the movie about Jerry Lee Lewis next, but too late for me to stay up.
Seventy-six trombones led the big parade, with a hundred and ten coronets right behind, they were followed by rows and rows of the finest virtuosos, the cream of every famous band....
I can't help myself, I break out into that song whenever someone mentions The Music Man.
Nannie's lipstick ... she's got it put on kind of thick, and below the lower part of her bottom lip. Looks kinda weird, but I didn't say anything, except murmuring "Oh dear..." to myself. I guess she doesn't know that it looks so odd.
Soooooo....3 PM: Hubby has gone off to the hospital ER again. I took his BP earlier and it was 145/104, so I told him to call for the ambulance. He doesn't exactly want to go to the ER, but only because he is afraid it will be filled with 4th of July fireworks accidents and he'll have to wait forever. But he has had several nights of poor sleep and his left side is really bothering him. Don't know if it is the pleura filling up again or what (like maybe something going on with his pancreas?). Nothing works to ease the bloating. He has tried Mylanta, Gas-x and charco-caps, but none really "take care of" the gas. I gave him an enema last night and the enema liquid came out, then he pooped "a little". Anyway, he is tired, and I don't want him to have to suffer these symptoms for another 2 weeks until his scheduled ultrasound. Now we just wait and see what the ER doc decides, and I may have to go pick him up late, if they decide not to keep him. I don't want him to be sick and I don't know what else we can do here at home to help him feel better. UGH.
The weather is oppressive...sauna-hot, but only around 93; the next few days say 97 degrees with a 'feels like' about 103. Wheeeeeee! Some scattered thunder-storms predicted for later, but who knows; a lot of times we don't get 'em, as they go either South or North of us.
Last night between 9:30 and 11:00 PM we had the most fireworks and fire-crackers and m-80's (isn't that the 'big BOOM' ones?). Anyway, every time some went off, Nannie would say "What was THAT?" Hubby would answer, "It's the 4th of July!" but she looked puzzled, so then we had to say "It's the neighbors setting off fireworks."
The baseball game resumed last night around 11:30 PM, after the rain delay was finally over. Score was 6-1, and then when it got to 6-2 or 6-3, I turned it off; didn't want to stay up another few hours while they finished off the last 3 innings. So right now, I don't know what the final score was. There is another game tonight.
I had to start taking the Meclazine again last night and this morning because I've got "the dizzies" again.
Prolly to be cont'd later on with an update on hubby.
Stars, so sorry to hear about your husband. Hopefully, they can give him some relief and get that BP down. Hope you're dizziness gets better.
Ado, I can see how exhausting it can be and how work would be a relief.
I'm watching Stranger Things on Netflix and it is soooo good. I had to get away from it so it doesn't haunt my sleeping. LOL
I had a fairly productive day, did some meal prep for the days to come, mopped the floors, and enjoyed the hot yoga class.
Right now the temp is 90 with a "feels like" of 101. Typical July and August weather.
Brother in-law's dog is still with me for another week. She's no trouble. She's a little finicky. She's on a capsule that can't be opened per instructions for a skin condition every other day. She first took it rolled up in peanut butter but has decided she doesn't like peanut butter. I used liverwurst like I did with my late Ellie and she took it today. She also has decided she only likes one of the treats in this house and not the others, including the one's BIL gave me. Whatever. LOL
I got the books mailed (yay!), they should arrive in a week. Also picked up a few things at the grocery store (which is basically right next to the mailing shop). Then I DID get the car washed, and spent time drying the drippy areas, and vacuuming the inside, and wiping down the dusty dashboard and other areas. It's not a perfect detail job, but it looks better than it did!
Dh and I will join the online, Jamkazam jam, and then once it's over (at 5pm PST), I will drive over to ds's place to deliver his sunglasses, which he'd left in the car yesterday (I found them when I was cleaning).
Not much else planned. I should walk my 30 min today, sometime (when it cools down a little).
Have a good evening!
6:50 PM: Hubby just called; he has had blood drawn and a chest x-ray taken and put him back in the waiting room.
Nannie just asked me about "that man" and said she thinks he is related to us? I said, "Your son?" Yes, that's who she meant. I told her the above and she's not pleased that "they haven't found anything yet." Nope, he hasn't seen any doc yet.
Hurry up and wait.

Hi Tweety and Dianah, hope you both get better sleep
Stars let us know if you hear from Amo
NJ22 that sounds like a nice 4th
Was a quiet 4th around here, except for the fireworks. Went bird watching in the morning, saw a bunch of birds. Came home and took it easy and watched Dracula's Daughter. Finished reading Braiding Sweetgrass, have started a scifi book I first read years ago, Bone Dance. Not sure I like it any better the 2nd time but I'm giving it another chance. Slept better, put the earplugs in before bed
My sister told me yesterday she tested positive for Covid. I'll keep an eye on symptoms and test myself later in the week. Chances are I won't be going out with J this week, he's headed to Pittsburgh on Sat and can't risk getting sick
Going to be a very hot day today, I think in the upper 90s, with storms
