Stars, can I assume that the huge power outage in NC is not where you are? I figure you would have mentioned it ?
Gma is hacking, congested, but doesn't seem to have a fever. The lady who's coming to stay with her during the days is a nurse and says she's OK to deal with this. Surely she knows to work on keeping her hydrated, but I think I'll have that talk with Twins A and B as well. Twin B *will* be working 11-7 Wednesday night and, I think, Saturday night. Hubs is nervous about making the trip and leaving his mom, especially since she's sick. I am, too. The meetings won't be fun (they're selecting a new captive insurance provider for the risk retention group. Being so small and me being so new, we don't have a lot of experience or knowledge to draw on. Which is a good thing, really, but means I don't feel I have a lot to contribute.
Hello all!
Ado, how does Twin B "like" his job? Is he getting used to it? Ugh, too bad the "meetings won't be fun." ?
Tweety, safe travels! Thank you very much for sharing your photos!
Joe, hope you are able to get an appointment soon for the counselor. For your peace of mind! ? Hope work goes smoothly today, without big upheavals!
Slept poorly last night, couldn't get to sleep till after 4. Meh. It's OK, I slept in. Might nap today, but I have errands I want to get done. I will often have trouble sleeping after we have played music, which is what we did yesterday afternoon. It is just exhilarating, to play and have each piece come together. I mean, it's tiring too but I guess the one cancels out the other! I finally sat up and made a list of things I had in mind to do today, and after that I dropped off. Until the Manx cat jumped on the bed and yowled loudly, insisting I get up. He is such a naughty! (yes, he's the one who knocked the egg off the counter) But we love him.
Have a good day!
Yup, same old, same old. Hubby was drunk by one PM, teetering, but not yet lurching...Now he is in his recliner with the O2 on. Nannie is finishing her lunch, eating with her eyes closed. And, I am doing laundry. Nannie has left her bed unmade, which is what I have wanted her to do all along; all I have to do is change the underpad.
I just called our insurance guy and he says hubby's got in-patient alcoholic rehab covered by Medicare and the supplement, and the most we will possibly have to pay is $240. Whew. Now all the doc has to do is convince him to go in immediately. If he starts fussing about us missing our anniversary and Christmas, neither of which we celebrate by anything except a card to/from each other, I will tell him it would be the best Christmas and Anniversary presents he could give me. Of course I know he has to want to know he NEEDS to go and seriously apply himself. I know that it is not successful for a lot of folks, first time around. But he has to start somewhere.
I just came in from dog walking on some slick sidewalks! Either some freezing rain fell, or some snow fell, partially melted and refroze. Anyway, there was some very slippery footing. I made Tiki Masala last night for dinner, using a mix from the spice store. I liked it, but it was too spicy for dh. Oh well, it will be good reheated for lunch. He says he is making burgers tonight for dinner. I have a massage booked for 3:30 to try to work out the kinks in my neck and shoulder, and maybe loosen up my leg muscles.
NoStars, it seems that you are prepared to answer all the objections. Good grief, with all his falls, and injuries, wrecking at least one pair of glasses, not to mention you shouldering all the household, there is no reason not to go. But I am sure he will resist.
Dianah, naughty, naughty kitty! Yes, I find writing down all the "don't forgets" will sometimes help to quell the mind. But I love naps, too!
Joe, I also hope you can talk to your counselor soon. When is the colonoscopy? Getting past that will help too.
Ado, ack, that's good Gma will be seen by a nurse while you are gone. Maybe you will have dynamic speakers at your conference and it won't be too painful.
I trust Tweety is having an uneventful flight home...
dianah, Twin B *does* like his job, so far. They seem to think he's picking things up well, and I guess the person they hired for 11-7 on the weekends quit, so Twin B is now the weekend 11-7 guy *and* the first priority PRN. He seems pleased about it and thinks it will be good to have steady income *and* time to work on his writing and/or take classes.
Stars, I'm glad you found out your insurance should cover most of rehab. That's a relief, and means he has one less "reason" not to go. I like your prepared response, too, that it would be the best anniversary or Christmas present he could give you.
5 hours ago, dianah said:I saw on FB that Tweety's return flight has been delayed, at least 3 hr. ?
Yes. We had a three hour layover and they added three more hours. But then the plane was ready 10 minutes early. whoppee
There must have been a staff shortage at the airport because there were only two agents letting in hundred of Americans getting off international flights. (There was another huge line for non-US citazens) and one line for people in wheelchairs and there was a steady steam of them (older folks mostly). But we had time.
Regardless I'm home now altering getting up at 3AM which is 2AM our time and it's 10pm now. Just had some supper and will go to bed. Filtered through 148 emails. Glad to be home. I'm off a few more days to recover and get all the bad eating out of my system.
The dogs are happy.
Good news about it not costing too much out of pocket. Can you on the sly back a bag for him to take him straight to rehab end not give him the option to think about it. He will say one thing to the doctor and other when he gets home. Take him straight to rehab from the doctors office. That's what happened to me years ago when I went to rehab but it was from the employee assistance program. Straight from the counselor to rehab. But she did take me home to get my toiletries and clothes but didn't leave me alone to change my mind. But I wanted rehab at that point. Good luck!
Welcome back, Tweety! It looked like an amazing visit, with such beautiful scenery! Thanks again for sharing the photos with us!
I finally got the property tax settled. I had paid it online. Oops, guess I didn't put in the acct numbers correctly because I received an email that the "check" was returned. $36 penalty for me. (when I went to the office, the lady I spoke with was nice but reminded "you have to be very careful entering the numbers..." Yah, too bad I didn't take it seriously from the first, yanno???? ) I couldn't pay it then because I was out of checks from the money source. So I ordered more and when they arrived (in 2 weeks), I made one out and enclosed it and the two coupons, and hand-delivered it to an outside drop box. That was a week ago. Th e money is still in the bank. I drove over today and was told it will take 3-4 weeks to process (honestly, they have to walk it from outside the building to inside, and open the envelope). BUT I was assured they stamp the envelopes as they receive them, and the "entered by" date is the stamped date. But the young gal at the window asked if I would wait, and she went in the back and searched through ALL the envelopes received (I'm sure it was a pile, it had been a week!) and FOUND IT! Came out after about 5 min, waving my check and processed it right then and there, and then I took it over to the cashier and received a receipt and it's DONE! I am so thankful the young gal (J) took the time to look for it!! So, WHEW, what a relief.
I had ordered dh a small Christmas gift, and it arrived today. Couldn't stand it, I gave it to him, so he could use it tonight when taking the dog out. It's a little warm beanie with the LED light in the middle of it. Worked really well, and he liked it!!
I got the set list done, and added some chords to the newer songs, and then emailed them out to the band.
I hope I sleep better tonight; I should, as while I didn't nap, I did rest a little.
Have a good evening!

Dianah glad that you're feeling better and were able to get to practice
NJ22 thanks for the pictures. Here's hoping your ds doesn't need eye surgery again
Stars glad you insisted he take that appointment tomorrow
Ado I hope you do manage to get to Florida
The cat seems to be back to normal after getting rid of a large hairball. Intake seems about normal, need to make sure output is OK too. If so can hold off on the vet until later
Was a fairly busy day yesterday, was out bird watching, had to mail a package (long delay at the post office), did some cleaning, and came up with a shopping list. Did stuff to get ready for the colonoscopy, got a taxi to take me there and directions for my dad to pick me up
Anxiety was unusually strong yesterday, which was odd as things were settling down. Had to take something to help settle down. Talked to an online friend which helped. Guess this underscores that I need to see the counselor in the near future, which was what I was already planning to do
Will be a cloudy day here in the mid 40s
