Long waits seem to be the norm nowdays. Very few people seem to be able to just step into a nursing program, even with all pre-req's done and 4.0 gpa's. Don't feel alone, you're not. Took me 2 years to get accepted into a program just to have to turn it down and move to another state (due to military spouse). It took me another year to get in the program where we are now, and I think the only reason I got in so quick is because of the special circumstances being on a military post provided (the satalite university program hold 20 seats for qualified military and military spouses). Had it not been for this fortunate event, I'm sure I would have had to wait much longer.
Good luck in getting into the program. If this is what you want, the wait will be worth it. Just try and fill the time now wisely, get as many classes out of the way as possible, even ones that might not count until later on.
I agree with Angela.....if nursing is really what you want then the wait will be worth it in the end. I feel your pain as well trying to get into the program. They just changed the requirements for my school and i'm able to apply a little earlier than previously thought. I'll be submitting my application at the end of the fall semester. They made some of the prereq's corequirements because of students complaining that getting all the prereq's done before applying then having to wait was wasting time. Which I do agree with. During the wait time i'll be able to get micro and a&p2 out of the way but already be on the waitlist.
Good luck to you Love and I hope all goes well for you to get placed soon...
I'm taking one pre-req now and I have two more after this one-- And I basically have to take one course at a time b/c I work F/T, but like the other two people already posted- if it is something that you are passionate about and really want to do- then the wait will be well worth it. My BF is military too- so I just pray that I will be able to do this wherever I go or may have to be stationed in the future... I'm trying to get as much stuff out of the way now- so if I am stationed with him later I will be that much closer... Anyway GOODLUCK- don't give up- keep fighting for your dreams... Dreams are not achieved over night!

Why does it seem so hard to get into Nursing School. Out of all the professions I think this is the hardest. I tryed to get in Nursing school this January but was told to take additional classes and try again because I did not have over a 3.0 GPA. I was like .2 points away:angryfire....OK now I'm taking the additional courses and they tell me that I have to wait until this Fall to try to get in..... I'm so ready to be done with this. Just venting.
