i am a 1 year experienced telemetry nurse who is trying to internally transfer to ob. i just did a lot of changes on my resume after some resume tips and critiques on other people's resumes that i've read here.
i see that some parts of my resume look disorganized here after copying/pasting from word document. please ignore. believe me, it looks neat on a word document. however, the content is the same after all.
please take a look and let me know if there is any vague statements, grammatical errors or things that i could add to make me a better candidate.
to me, my experience section seems to have a long list. is it overwhelming?
another thing, i can't really see what i could list on my student nurse experience section. my rn experience already covers a lot of my student nurse experience anyway, so i don't want to repeat myself. i don't even think it is very wise to still list student experience after a year of nursing experience. should i just leave that part out?
i found this resume template long time ago while still in nursing school. it includes a quote. here is the resume:
jane doe, rn
home address. phone. e-mail address
professional profile

"nursing is an art: and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation, as any painter's or sculptor's work; for what is the having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of god's spirit? it is one of the fine arts: i had almost said the finest of fine arts."

I interview candidates and have seen quite a bit of resumes from nurses switching specialties. If you want to jump to OB, I'd want to know what you've done to get familiar with OB. How about CEs or classes on the matter to highlight your interest? I see you have a grasp of MS/tele, but your resume alone doesn't convey to me you have interest in OB. I agree with you that the student section can go, it doesn't tell me much about you now as a nurse.

Wouldn't it be better to say "precepted student nurses" than leaded?
Right, I know! It is very weak on OB skills unless they count wound care and teaching part. I am trying to figure out what OB related classes/certificates and where I could get them. I sure will work on this. Thank you for the advice! :)
Maybe. I was called "team leader" when I leaded some other students in clinicals. So I thought I'd use that word on the resume. But I am planning to remove the student nurse experience section all together. :uhoh21:

It's "lead.". I'm terrible at resume writing, so I'm of no help. But I CAN tell you "leaded" is not a word unless you're saying something contains the element lead...like glass. Just in case you keep that part in :)
Oh I see now. Thank you! I will change that part! :)
Eek, typo! I meant "led," not "lead.". I've been to way too long
No prob! Good luck!
