Trouble landing a nursing residency in Miami florida

Hi all,

I am having trouble getting a job as a new graduate nurse in Miami. I am looking for a bedside position and I'm told that my only option is a new grad nurse residency. I have applied to many hospitals.. Baptist, Jackson, UM, Mount Sinai, but I haven't gotten selected for interviews at any. I have my BSN, and I already passed the NCLEX. Does anyone have any insight or advice on how to navigate this process? Are any of you experiencing the same thing?

Hi! Unfortunately I'm experiencing the same issue I graduated December 2023 with my BSN and passed my NCLEX in February 2024. I've been applying to residency programs since my graduation and haven't gotten any in person interviews. It seems like every hospital is hiring internally and not disclosing how many applicants they're actually willing to hire. It's been so discouraging I feel like I'm losing my mind waiting for someone to at least give me the chance to interview :(

Hi!! I'm soo sorry to hear this! I feel the same! I've been on indeed looking for an opportunity to give me some hands on experience while I wait for a residency to take a chance on me but no one wants a nurse without experience. So I really have no idea what I'm supposed to do in the meantime. The next residency programs should be starting fall, so applications should start opening up soon. Niklaus applications become available August 19, Baptist not specific but it says August-September, Jackson doesn't have any information available..

Hii, yeah I've been having the same issue . It's hard not be discouraged after not getting any interviews. I even applied to Memorial hospital this week and already got a not selected email and I'm just like okay great 🙃. How are we suppose to gain experience if we aren't getting any chances LOL it's so frustrating.

Was this for the one that opened up July 15th? Did they send you an email saying not selected or does it show on the portal? :( still waiting to hear back

I also applied and I'm still waiting to hear back. I'm an internal candidate but I was still denied before so IDK what's going on 🙃

Yeah I got the email and it says it in the portal . It was like immediately as well so IDK what's going or how they choose people.

Does your application say received ? Or under review ? Part of me wanted to reapply and see what happens LOL cause I found it ridiculous it was so immediate

Mine says "under review" and it's been that way since I applied on the 15th
