Hi guys! I just wanted to start this for anyone who applied to the Tristar hospitals in Nashville, TN for their nurse residency program. I know the applications are open for a really long time period, so I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how long the process takes once you apply. Good luck to everyone in their searches!!
I'm coming down from Boston so dealing with the non-compact state stuff as well. Have those who accepted been working on filling out the preboarding information? I got up to the part where we need to put our nurse license info and everything but I'm still in school so don't have my license yet so not sure what to do there.
p.s @nursehaliz it's not allowing me message you back, don't think i'm ignoring you! :)
For those of you who have accepted positions, when is your start date? Mine is June 18 but I'm nervous because I don't think I'll have my license by then. TN says that it takes 4-6 weeks to process your application but you can't apply until after you graduate and I haven't graduated yet. Anyone else in the same situation?

I'm in the same boat. I don't finish up with school until June 8th and I'm moving down from Boston so they said there most likely will be a delay getting the paperwork squared away. I don't plan on taking the exam until I move down there so soon after the program starts. I believe we have 75 days from our first day to get our license so we have some time.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one in the same situation! I graduate on May 12, so I have some time but I just want to get everything all squared away and it stinks that it seems like a longer process. I'm hoping that it's more of a 4 week process to get approval than a 6 week one. I'm planning on taking the exam in TN after I move down there as well! I'm so happy that we have those 75 days!

The peer interview is with someone who is currently a nurse, and they ask very similar questions to the leaders. The biggest difference I noticed in the line of questions is the peer interviewer asked questions for you to give a real circumstance that you were involved in, and how did you respond? You will need to pull from any patient care experience you have had. For example, one question was how did you deal with a difficult patient, and how did they respond? With the leaders, they gave me more of the scenario, and asked how I would respond. One question I remember was how would you document a dressing change? Another was what does HIPPA mean to you? I was told about the specialty positons by the hr coordinator, but I could have misunderstood her. Just be prepared to accept something else. I have heard several individuals including myself being offered an adult med-surg position. Just a thought, but you may ask in your interview if you feel comfortable. The only thing I found very distracting about the peer interviews is that they are held with three other candidates interviewing right around you, and they are being asked the same questions.
