Then you should look for housing compatible with him letting himself out - that usually means a free standing house, kind of expensive generally. Your other choices could be to leave him home with mom, or network to find a teen to walk him. Really, he needs out twice at night? I've met lots of travelers doing 12 hours shifts without walking their dog. I did meet one traveler who left her dog in the car while working. That would depend on the climate, the dog, and perhaps the size of the dog.

I will work 12 hour shifts from 7p-7a. He needs to be let out at leat twice in that timeframe. How do other solo travelers have their dogs tended to while working these long shifts? Pet sitters and doggy daycare is so expensive, but I suppose those are my only options huh?
