I was thinking about being a traveler and was wondering if there was anyone out there that could tell me if it was worth it or not.....

Depends what you're looking for, and what you mean by "worth it"?

Check out http://www.delphiforums.com, go under health/wellness, then you'll see a travel nurses/therapists forum. Should be able to get all the info you need there. Good luck!

I've been traveling almost 3 years now. If you're young, single, and have no kids.....go for it. You have to be flexible, open to change and get along well with others. If you dont like packing your stuff up every 13 wks.....it's not for you. Feel free to email me if you need to ask any other ?'s.

If you're older, single and the kids are grown, it's great too! Not just for the young ones. Traveling for 7 yrs. now and no end in sight!

I agree with the question: What do you mean "worth it"?

If you want adventure, to see different things, meet different people, learn different things and ways to do things, the ability to look inside yourself and go: Wow! I didn't know I could do that! then, YES, it is worth it!!!

It is not a life for some. But it has been my life for over 2 1/2 years and I LOVE IT! I have learned so much about myself, become more confident, and, hey! I even like myself now!

Yes, sometimes I get lonely. I want to sleep in my own bed, be in my own house! But I like the idea of staying out of the politics (I know I have been at a place TOO long when I start sweating the politics!), seeing different places and meeting different people. At a couple of assignments, I made some good money to pay off a lot of bills. I was able to buy my 1st house at 47! Other assignments, I am having fun!

It is for single, married, single with kids, married with kids, single with animals........hey, it is for anyone who wants to do it!

I am THE PERPETUAL TOURIST!

And, yes, check out the Travel Nurse and Therapist forum on Delphi http://www.delphiforums.com Good place to get info!

Well if I had the kind of reason you have Brownie, I'd be taking a break too! Too bad my son won't help out there! (Can you tell I'm envious?)

Traveling has always intrigued me too and someday I may get the bug to cut loose and go for it!

One thing I've noticed..there sure is a big discrepancy in pay. One travel nurse who works for All About Staffing (an HCA owned staffing entity) is making 44 hr on nights...he works 48 hrs a week and pulls in huge checks.

Another night contract nurse makes half that. She however, is getting paid housing in her package....so seems one has to be ready to negotiate and know what you want going in.

That 44 hr is mighty tempting....

And Brownie, just luv that little darlin' of yours.....can'

t wait to be a gramma myself someday.:D

I would be wary of anything HCA operates. Been burned twice by them, no more. Am thinking of traveling too. Just want to take a few weeks to get myself set here. Good luck.
