Traveled without spouse??

Hey everybody, has anybody traveled without their spouse?? And how did it work out??

As with anything, it had its pros and cons.

What disturbed me most is that on each assignment I was promised, during my interview with the NM, that I could be scheduled to allow for frequent trips home; and, of course, I was lied to. It even appeared that the schedules were purposely made to prevent the visits. If I were able to get those frequent visits, I don't think the lonliness factor would have been so great. The hardest thing was to try and tell my husband that I would not be there for his birthday & he had to celebrate it alone. I even had a time block around his birthday put into my contract as being dates off & couldn't get it enforced.

If you can get assurances that you will get the time to see your husband, I would say it is possible.

I am actually not married yet but will be getting married next year and I travel without my fiance. I actually will not so any assignments over two months after about four weeks either I go home or he comes to visit me. Its not too bad I definitely miss him but eight week assignments go really fast. You could also do four and six week contracts also. Hope that helps!

My biggest problem was being in a different time zone. It was hard to stay connected with a 3 hours time difference. I guess it depends what shift you work too. It can totally work though, and your fiance/husband has a nice vacation spot wherever you are. :)
