I am planning on becoming a travel nurse after I graduate school and get some experience. I am married, so my husband would be coming with me. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions about what kind of job he could do with us moving around every 3-6 months. I know most online jobs, but what specifically? TIA

Great list of possible work!

Specializes in Geriatrics, Dialysis.

If you are travelling during construction seasonal road or building construction would be a good option. The pay is usually good and he won't be committed to anything long term. My son is a traveler and his wife does medical coding, she works from home so she can work wherever they go, but they did stay put in one place for a full year until she was experienced enough to qualify to work from home full time.

Since you plan to move every 3-6 months he'll need to be flexible since he can only work temporary, short term and work from home jobs if he opts for standard employment. The other option is to be an independent contractor or some type of career that he can remain self employed. I suggest of you go that route that you talk to a tax pro since he'd be responsible for all of his own withholding.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

If it's during the holiday season, I know UPS hires as many people as they can for runners. They typically sit in the truck with the driver and run packages to doors. Quick pay and generally needed everywhere.

Specializes in oncology, MS/tele/stepdown.
Recruiter - If your SO is up for sales he could become a remote recruiter for travel nursing or other fields.

In your experience, can you be a remote recruiter out of the gate, or would you have to work for a certain period of time in-house?

It's going to vary based on the company, but I started out of the gate with no recruiting experience. I did have a medical background as a Lab Tech, but it didn't really apply to travel nursing. I think having a SO who is a travel nurse gives you a competitive edge of truly understanding the business. I know a few companies who are hiring remote recruiters with 0 experience.
