I was thinking about travel nursing and wanting to know is it worth it? I want to do something new with my life and get out and see new things, but scared to. I have a husband and we don't have kids yet. I've only researched a few travel agencies, but are they too good to be true? Thanks :)

Bottom line. Absolutely travel nursing is worth it. I recently did an article here https://allnurses.com/travel-nursing/top-10-tips-1102830.html about, "The Top 10 Tips For New Travel Nurses" on Allnurses and the video can be seen on my Youtube channel below in my signature. I create helpful videos for new travel nurses. I travel with my wife who is also a travel nurse. E-mail me if you have questions as [email protected] or contact me at any one of my social media profiles. Take care!

It is certainly worth it to the 30,000 nurses who do it. However it is questionable for the 3.4 million nurses who don't travel. One of those things that is not for everyone.

Your stated reasons sound like itravel might be for you. Yes, agency sites are too good to be true as they are trying to sell you on the idea, mentioning only the positives and exaggerating those. Try PanTravelers for unbiased information. Andrew's video is a good starting point.

I was going to add to NedRN's comment in saying "worth" is different for people.

Some things you need to consider is:

Is it financially worth it?

Will you make enough money pay your bills and maintain your tax home?

Are you able to tolerate being away from family/friends for months at a time?

Those are some big questions I would consider. :)

I'm someone who likes my comfort zone, my friend group, and routine. I'm not exactly the type of person who I would think would be good at adapting to life as a travel nurse. But I wanted to do it anyway, so here I am! I'm on my second contract and I'm really enjoying it. It's definitely glamorized when you read about it online, but after getting past that, I'm really enjoying the experience. It was originally going to be something we did just for a year, and now my husband and I are strategizing how to make this work long term with our other goals. It's not for everyone, but what is?
