Transferring nursing credit

Published

Anyone know how it's possible for me to transfer nursing credit course to another BSN program. As I have previously wrote, I failed out of my nursing program and am planning on continuing this pathway. I have tried looking for programs that will be able to accept them but none have gotten back to me so far.

thanks!!

I know of no schools that accept nursing credits from other programs. The reasons are many and valid- but you are likely starting from the beginning. You non-nursing course should transfer though.

I know of a classmate that found one that would let her transfer hers in-however, this school had just opened and was for profit and was not accredited "but planned on becoming so soon". I'm not sure how that investment turned out.

In general, I have never heard of an accredited nursing school accepting credits from another nursing program. The reason why was because the programs content could vary widely between each school, making them hard to be compatible for a degree.

I haven't heard of an institution that accepts Nursing credits from other institutions. Around here if you fail out of nursing school you are usually not afforded admission into another nursing program and in the rare cases where you are they expect you to start from the beginning. Many have no problem with this as they are grateful for the second chance.

A classmate transferred after the first year and the new school accepted Fundamentals of Nursing only. He said he had to argue to get that much. Nursing programs generally don't accept transfer of nursing courses due to differences in course content, their stated reason. Their unstated reason being increased revenue from making the student start from the beginning. Getting admitted to a new program is a feat in and of itself in today's competitive climate.
