first of all, finish your degree and obtain your RN license/registration in New Zealand.
You will have great chances to work in hospitals outside NZ if you have 2 years hospital experience in NZ, otherwise you will end up working in a nursing home instead of hospital in the overseas country you will be applying.
Furthernore, there are countries which require you to take their licensure exam before you could practice nursing (like USA and CANADA), so check these out.

It's great experience to work overseas.
Quite a few NZ graduates do their grad year in Australian hospitals. Just check out the hospital websites to find out how to apply.
But, be aware that working overseas, away from your family and friends can be really, really lonely at times.
Good luck

Hi, I am planning to go to Aussie after my grad year. I was talking to an Aussie nurse from Sydney while doing my shift as an HCA and she told me to stay in NZ cause in Aussie there is not as much support for new grads? Can anyone in Australia verify that? She said she had one day orientation and then the next day 6 patients on her own! Do the new grad program in Australia offer post grad papers too like in NZ? I like the look of the Perth or Melbourne Grad programme but hear accomm especially in Perth is really hard to get? Oh also this aussie nurse said Nurses in NSW cant administer IV morphine is that true for all of Australia?

hello all, I am the opposite and have just applied to do a post grad in NZ.I finish my degree nxt mth and move to NZ Dec as I am marrying a Kiwi nxt yr so thought I wld do post grad over there. Was going to stay here in Perth but love conquers all. Perth is a great place to live but cost of living on par with NZ and if u look at wages for new grad RN not a great deal of difference. Rents pretty much the same.I currently wk at Royal Perth as I am already an EN and I love it. The new grads get heaps of support as there r loads of staff development nurses to give support. My advice is to research places and depending on what age u r then seek further advice from forums such as this from people who have been there.Furthermore the new grad applications have closed for the new yr intake. Good luck and dont give up the dream..
From what i know, new grad without experience normally are assigned/hired at nursing homes which involved less technical nursing knowledge/skills, in that case handling 6 patients the following day wont be poblem.. but in hospital setting, well, you're concern is valid, nevertheless, that is also why they would hire 'experienced" nurses in the hospital.
Inexperienced nurses from NZ and Aussie are hired in hospitals for grad years. In NZ for NZ trainer New grads we do a ten month grad programme in a hospital and do post grad papers. If you come from any other country other than NZ and Australia then generally overseas new grads should do their grad year in their country and then try to get qualifications assessed again our standards plus sit english exam plus get registration
After doing my EN in QLD I found it difficult to find wk but as I dont take no for an answer I persevered and my 1st hospital position 4 mths later was in a private hospital in plastic surgery ward.gave me great experience then i went onto do community nursing in wound care as this gave me the flexibility to continue my studies to RN.I recently did a prac at a public hospital where I now have a casual job on week ends as an EN.Nurse from Oseas dont always go to nursing homes unless they choose to go there as a last resort or maybe cause they like it.Hospitals here in OZ are diverse and dont discriminate because of experience. As long as u follow the code of ethics and ask questions about what u dont understand or know u will be supported especially in the public system...good luck

Hi
I have not employed a NZ nurse on a grad program, but only because I have not been asked!. I have had UK nurses on my grad programs. If you can register with an Australian Nurses Board you can get on a grad program in Aus.

hi people am excited to do my interview in operation theatre for new grad, but have no idea what so ever of they gona ask me. advice and help please..
Hi,
Congratulations on getting an interview for the OR.
They will probably be asking the usual questions, they will want to know that you are keen and are a good team player.
They may ask questions about self directed learning and how you identify your learning needs & follow them up.
Other questions may include:
Describe yourself with one adjective.
Vocabulary: loyal, hard-working, sensitive, reliable, responsible, punctual, trustworthy,
Friendly, co-operative, intelligent, skilled, experienced, caring, cheerful etc;
What are the positive features of your personality?
How do you cope with stress?
Do you like working as a part of a team? Why/why not? ( better like it!!)
Why do you want to work in the OR?;
Do you have any questions? ( IMPORTANT prepare at least 3 Q's!)
They may also ask you to give examples of when you dealt with a stressful situation.
Just take the time to prepare some answers to the questions and role play them, it is the best way to prepare.
Good luck.
