Do you have the right to know why you were referred to TPAPN? I was referred and told they can't tell me why. I am seriously questioning this because I feel like I'm guilty of something I have no clue of. I'm currently looking at losing my job. I can't stand all this anymore. First it was substance abuse and now it's mental health. I talked to a lawyer and she told me they have to say why but not who. My case worker said differently. Please help

Wow. I am so sorry you are going through this. Firstly, I know nothing about you so I can only say what I would do if I was not guilty of drug use, abuse, or diversion. I would request to speak to the TPAPN Manager. I do not know her, but that is where I would start if I were not getting the feedback necessary to understand my referral. I would ask for the details provided that warranted a referral. If I had mental health issues that may be affecting my practice then I would likely make an appointment with a psychiatrist if I didn't already have one. You don't have to have a positive drug screen to need help. I hope this ends well for you. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Just be diligent with whatever you need to do, keep notes with dates and times. Most of all don't overshare and don't lie. Good luck.
I will ask to speak with a manager. The mental health part came around due to a medical concern I'm currently having, it's not impacting my patient care just me worrying. I feel like they judge you guilty and that the pre-evaluation will just say what they want to hear. I'm so upset and stressed about this ?. I felt like I had no options except to pre-enroll in this program, that's how it was essentially explained to me

I don't want you to overshare here but here are some things to think about. Often when we are struggeling we don't see things in the same light as an outside party who does not know the whole picture. You mention that you are dealing with a medical problem that is causing you to worry. Someone was concerned enough to feel a call to the BON was warranted. You are allowed due process under the law. So if they can't tell you who made the referral they must tell you why a referral was made. You need to consult with an atorney who specializes in professional practice issues. Start with TAANA Executive Office - Home who can give you a free consultation.
So I have a couple questions, are you told what is said in you pre-evaluation meeting with the psychiatrist? If they suggest something are you to be notified of what they decide?

The evaluating psychiatrist will send their report to the BON who will then determine your program. Bear in mind this professional??? is often in the pocket of the BON or shares a fiancial interest in some aspect of the recovery industry (Make no mistake this is an industry). So irregardless of your answers you program will likely look like everyone elses. IE ......Some level of inpatient followed by outpatient monitoring with with Random substance testing for 2 to 5 years. The programs are pretty cookie cutter so be ready. I have never heard of someone getting a copy of the psychiatrist evaluation but if you are in this due to a criminal matter I suppose your attorney could request it as part of discovery.

Are you still in the process of getting a monitoring agreement or just looking back and wondering how this happened? It seems this should have resolved for you by now one way or another.
