Hi everyone. I just started the job search and I have a good chance of interviewing for a position in a substance abuse rehab. The problem is that it is a night position. I really want to work in addictions but I was wondering if anyone in TPAPN has been approved for night positions? I think that a night position would be easier for me to learn this new specialty since there is usually less going on at night. I have not scheduled the interview and I don't know if they will consider a TPAPN nurse. I do not want to waste their time if a night position is impossible but this would be perfect if it worked out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

They can and often modify restrictions. I suggest you go for the interview regardless. Its good practice in a friendly environment. Good luck

You may also want to check with your CM, I don't have my old book anymore but I thought until you are cleared, Nites, weekends, on call were unavailable to nurse's just starting back. I could only work days shifts and had to have 3 nurse moniters on staff (at least one available whenever I was working) along with not being able to give narcs or sedatives,, do drug counts etc. I was lucky to have the support of my unit. Didn't mean to rain on your parade, just share info. Good luck with that, Peace

I have been looking and applying everywhere for 17 mo I applied for a night position just because I was applying for any and all open positionsgot a interviewed and am waiting to hear but during interview manager brought up TPAPN restrictions and said she would work with my case manager, so I emailed case manager she said send in paperwork and she would call manager and see what could be worked out so hears to hoping so I guess my answer is go on interview nothing ventured nothing gained.
Thanks for all of the info. I am so nervous. I have another interview next week for a different position. It's days, however it's a PRN position. I am finding that to be the case for many available positions because hospitals are very lean and don't want to pay benefits. I know of a couple nurses that were able to accept jobs that were PRN. I just need to find out what kind of hours that will be able to work in order to meet the 62 hours per month required by TPAPN. Any one else out there who got to accept PRB position?

Oh my interview for rehab position is tomorrow that's why I am so nervous.
