Hi all...I've been a nurse for decades, I'm asking this for my daughter in law.
We (the entire family) want to move to a beach town that is an hour from the nearest college with a nursing program. The problem is my DIL wants to go to nursing school. Are there any programs that are totally online, for someone who is NOT a nurse currently?

Short answer, no.
There maybe hybrid classes, but the only hybrid classes I know of are for LVN to RN bridge programs. She would still have to commute for clinicals.

I have never heard of any. Sorry!
But if you're looking for a nice beach community with many nursing schools, check out the Pensacola, FL area.
Good luck!

No totally online prelicensure nursing programs exist. The only totally online nursing programs are bridge programs for those who already have licensure as LPNs or paramedics. A person cannot go from zero to nurse without attending class and clinical rotations.

Actually yes there is. It is all online with the exceptions clinical a which you set up yourself at a local healthcare facility. It's an ADN at Excelsior college..
Again, no totally online prelicensure nursing programs exist. The ASN program offered by Excelsior College is not a true prelicensure nursing program because candidates must be licensed as an LPN/LVN or paramedic in order to enroll.

Lots of us commuted an hour or more to school. It's not that big a deal.
I also commuted 225 miles one-way to the LPN-to-ASN program that I attended.
