Took the PAX-RN test Saturday

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hey everyone, I am new to this board. I took the PAX at Delgado on Saturday and was wondering: Did anyone feel like they didn't do so good on it and still made a good score?? And also, I know you can only take the test 2 times at Delgado, but what if you take it a 3rd time at a different school, will they take that score??? Just curious, because I am pretty sure I will have to take the test again.

delgado is the only school i know that requires that test so you can only take it twice

by the way i took the test on saturday too, what semester are you applying for

Specializes in Peds and Well baby.

Don't stress about the test too much. A grade of 100 is required and that is a comparably low grade, approximately 50% of the total. For Charity School of Nursing a 130+ recieves the highest score in calculating points for acceptance in the program. Most ASN programs require the Pax, while BSN programs do not. And yes, most of us who took the test felt that we had not done well. I had never had Chemistry, Physics, or Geometry but was pleasantly surprised how well I performed at guessing! There is a wonderful prep. book that can be ordered at Amazon. It is from the Association of Nursing, "Entrance Exam.." (can't remember the whole title) someone help please!! :uhoh3::confused::doh:

NSU requires it also. But there you can take the test as many times as you want. But they only offer the test 2 times a year.

I am trying to apply for the ADN program at NSU. They only accept once a year, for the fall semester. HMMM, do you know if you can apply to two schools at the same time??? If so, I apply for the Fall Semester at Delgado too. Just in case.

dsognier, I'm trying not to stree over it. ;) I was just kind of wondering how other people felt about the test. It has been about 3 years since I've taken Chemistry, A&P and College Algebra. I had to guess a good part of the science test. The math was OK, and the verbal part was OK. I had the ARCO study guide, Nursing School and Allied Health Entrance Exams. I just can't wait for results in two weeks.

I thught I failed miserably but I got a 129 luckily. Of course now I'm wishing I would have made that 130 bracket..

these two weeks feel like two years, i am freaking

The title of the book is Review Guide for RN Pre-Entrance Exam by Mary E. McDonald, published by the National League for Nursing. Hope this helps. I thought is was a great study guide for the PAX-RN Exam.:nurse:

Hi everyone. I'm wanting to take the Pax test at the end of this Spring 07 semester though I'll only have completed up to Math 096. Is there any Math 118 related problems on the test that would cause me trouble? From what I've heard it consists of a lot of mult and div. Is algebra or word problems on it? Thanks for clueing me in.

I don't know what Math 118 is at Delgado, but I took Math 101 (College Algebra) at Nicholls and I felt pretty OK about the math section. I think they did have a few word problems. It was pretty basic stuff though (I think). They had things like: 3y+x=8 This problem probably doesn't make much sense

y-6x=13

but you get the idea. They had some fraction stuff on it. Honestly, I was surprised how much I knew in the Math section. HTH;)
