i know i never posted that i was taking nclex anytime soon, but i did take it yesterday. i don't think it really hit me that i was taking it until my husband drove me to the test site yesterday morning (needed moral support and was too nerved up to drive myself). i'm still in shock over the whole situation. thank god my husband was able to take off work to support me. i was a raving mess yesterday.
i was originally going to take it in july (i graduated may 8), but then i changed to june 16, then june 11, then june 6, yesterday. i changed my date to yesterday at the spur of the moment. all of my friends who are nurses advised me to take it asap and not wait because they said statistically you do worse the longer you wait. i have friends who don't feel ready, and they plan to take it in august. i, however, do believe that waiting until august is too long. anyway, i couldn't take the anxiety and anticipation anymore, so i said, "what the heck, i might as well go ahead and do it".
i'm still in shock from the experience, but i'm finally able to talk about it. my test cut off at 75 questions. my test seemed mostly psych and ob, but for me ob is a weak area. some pharmacology also. i had 1 calculation and about 4 or 5 choose all that apply questions. i hate choose all that apply questions because i'm usually not good at them. anyway, i also had some prioritizing questions. this was the hardest, most nerve-wracking experience of my life, and i hope it is over. when it cut off at 75, i was very grateful at first, but not long afterwards the fear set in.
my studying was all over the place for this test. i started out using exam star nurse a day gold but got tired of that after 3 days and switched to using a combination of saunders comprehensive nclex review 3rd edition and the study materials i received from my sylvia rayfield nclex review i took in december 2004. i also read a little of my nclex exam essentials book from meds publishing. i got bored easily studying one thing, so i switched around a lot. the only notes i went over from school had to do with cardiac rhythms, and that was it.
to all of you who took it yesterday and who are taking it today, i feel your pain. i have agonized over the results as well, but keep positive and stay strong and hopeful that everything will work out okay. thanks for allowing me to vent. this board has been so helpful to me. i wouldn't be able to get through this without all of you who post your experiences and send out positive energy and support. thanks to all of you for sharing, it has really kept me sane. i'll keep you all posted!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I am still waiting on my ATT - have already sent in my registration to Pearson Vue last week, so it's all about the waiting game now. Last month, my plan was to take it by June 15, but with how slow things have been moving with my ATT, I don't think that will be the case.
I have been trying to answer questions through Saunders and have taken Kaplan. I took the Hurst Review in April, and am going over weak areas with that. My worst area is check all that apply - statistically, I have always bombed that area in school.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Please let us know once you hear that you have passed!!!
best of luck!

Hi Tmarie75...................at least you're not in that boat alone huh :chuckle
I am so thankful for these boards too!! They have made all the difference getting through the last part of NS and now the NCLEX. Just got back from taking mine a few minutes ago and am mentally and physically drained.
I will be keeping my fingers crossed for all of us on the boards that we passed. Try to stay sane while waiting and let us know how you did.

hi Grinnurse, just wondering how many questions you had on your NCLEX and if you thought it was hard, and if you thought your studying helped you or not. I'm taking it really soon and I love hearing about how others did on it!!! :)

I took my NCLEX last week (June 3) and I got my results today...Yessss! I am a RN. I had 75 questions and they sound similar to yours. I also used the Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX study material along with a one-week NCLEX review at one of our local community colleges. Based on your post, I feel confident to say, Congratulations!
Keep your head up and I know that you had done the right thing!

I took NCLEX-RN today and my computer stopped at 75 questions. I feel like I failed!!! It was the hardest test I've ever taken! Several questions on different diets for different disease processes ?? but mostly prioritization questions on which pt. I would see first, or which pt. I would call back first. I could almost always narrow it down to 2 answers, and then would sit there and aggonize over what the answer is. Ahhhh!!!!!! I just feel like crying, and I keep thinking of the questions and what I choose, and second guessing myself.
Anyway...I'll keep everyone posted. I should find out in a day or two.

kacylynn,
you sound a lot like i did 2 days ago. it seemed to always get down to 2 answers and the dilemma was which one was the better answer. i got 2 questions myself on diets, but the prioritizing questions were difficult because the answers weren't obvious. at least to me they weren't. anyway, i'm sure you did better than you think. we're on a roll. all of us who got 75 questions within the past couple days/weeks have passed, so stay positive. i'm keeping my fingers crossed! post the good news when you find out!! :)

I took my NCLEX on Thursday 6/9/05. I have NEVER had a more stressful day in my life. I got 76 questions and have no idea how I did. I got a lot of prioritization questions and like most of the posts that I have read I could easily get it to two answers, but then I just tried to do the best I could using ABC's, Maslows, and Safety as well as nursing assessment. Today 6/10/05 as I am still waiting for results, I have prayed and am doing a little better. I will be devastated if I do not pass, but I could make myself sick worring about it. I pray for all of those GN nurses awaiting to take the test and asaiting results.
