Anybody there? I took the NCLEX Monday and knew right away I failed. It was so disappointing to have questions on meds I never heard of, much less knew the side effects of...also, had dozens of priority questions! How can I possibly study for the retest? Any suggestions? I graduated with a 3.6 and know my nursing "stuff." What went wrong? Help, please!
Hi, there! Thanks for your thoughts. I ordered the Kaplan review book and some flashcards on meds. Others I have talked to said they, too, had lots of meds. I am most worried about prioritizing. I need to find some additional info on that area. Obviolusly, that didn't "click" with me. Just got my results back & each category said "very close" to passing. That almost bums me even more! My state's exam was made harder 4/1/07 - just my luck! Don't know what the Suzanne plan is, but hoping to find out. Thanks again and good luck to you, too.

Hey there! Good luck with your studying endeavors! I signed up for the learningext program and it is by far the closest to the NCLEX's actual questions. their site is http://www.learningext.com/
Oh----Suzanne's plan can be found here: https://allnurses.com/forums/f197/new-revised-first-tip-suzannes-plan-195774.html
All you need is the Saunder's review book. If you don't have it, it is really worth the investment! I find their questions to be a little too knowledge based and not very similar to the NCLEX format...I got every question right the first few practice tests I took and was shocked at how easy they were. As a result, I went with the learningext program because their questions are almost identical to ones I saw on the NCLEX. Good luck, please keep us posted, and feel free to pm/post again if you need more help!

A lot of ppl cannot afford kaplan(my job paid for mine) if you can get it by all means do..it really works if you stick to their plan, they have a lot of nursing content but really GREAT strategies.
if not, I would strongly reccomend this ( http://www.learningext.com/products/pnreview/pnreview.asp
)
It's the learning extension from the BON and I SWEAR one of my questions came RIGHT off it.
While doing the diagnostic test keep a sheet of paper by you and write what you feel you are weak at and review that stuff..a lot of people (myself included) put off their weak points, don't be like us haha
Next thing is if you are getting the course book (or any drug book) be sure to just flip through the drug section each day..I would focus on LITHIUM, DIGOXIN and INSULIN (by name) but please be sure to look through all of your psych drugs, diabetic drugs and ANTI-CANCER drugs!!
Try and committ to reading at least 100?'s a day...when you walk into the test you want at least 2000 under your belt (I had 3500)
and the most important thing, is to believe in yourself..that's what I think means the most ^^ OH and the day before the test plz don't cram =P Take that day off and relax, it lets facts sink into your brain and makes you fresh for the fight come nclex day.
oh! and never EVER throw a dart (pick from 4 answers) always try to get at least one of them out of the way.
I have a lot more but ^^;; I guess pm if you want to hear it?
Good luck!
