Took NCLEX-RN Today

Published

Well, as the title says, I took it this morning as my first attempt with 75 questions. Got a good pop up for the Pearson Vue Trick already. I will say that I am glad that I spent time using Davis' phone app for questions on my breaks at work. They emphasize priority questions on the app quite a bit and I received an awful lot of them on the exam.

A question though; does anyone have an idea how long it takes in new york state for your license to show up online?

Congratulations! Any tips & what all did you use to study?

Im in CT and I also took the NCLEX today and got the good pop up!! My friend just passed a cpl weeks ago (CT) and 2 days after it was posted on the CT license website. So hopefully NY is quick also! Great job!

Well like i said before, I used Davis' android app for on the go NCLEX questions. This was a great source of priority and delegation questions. I used Saunders' Comprehensive NCLEX-RN review book to go over content subjects that I needed to review. I felt it helpful to go through and do the questions at the end of a section first. Then go back and read the review section. Then take the questions at the end of the section again. It really allowed me to hone in on what the super important parts of the section were. I also used another phone app called NCLEX Mastery by HLT corp. (Higher Learning Technologies) This app was great because they gave you questions about content and some priority questions. The best part of this app was the plethora of mnemonics that they provided to try and remember certain topics such as what microbes require contact, droplet and airborne precautions.

My school had us use ATI as a requirement and I tried using that with the assigned mentor or whatever but I felt it was sort of slow and tedious. It felt too much like school with the mentor asking you questions and expecting answers before giving you the code for the next piece of the assessments. I have heard positive things about it, but for me it wasn't the best.

I will say I felt under prepared when it came to dietary questions. I had quite a few and I had a hard time remembering specific foods that have specific nutrients. Other then that, I felt the NCLEX-RN was a bit easier than my NCLEX-LPN, which I took over 5 years ago.

I sure hope it is quick. I have a job lined up already and I want to start ASAP. :)

Sorry to flood with my own posts here. But I also used the online resources for the Saunders Comprehensive Review and that was pretty nice. It had thousands of questions and they were tough questions, I felt. The only complaint I had about it was that it was down last week for a couple of days due to some kind of problem on their end. So that hindered my review a bit.
