Took NCLEX June 23 in CA

Published

I am stressing out here. I took the NCLEX-RN on 6/23 and I haven't heard anything from them. I called them 2 weeks ago and they told me that my check bounced (embarassing, I know). So I drove up to Sacramento and paid that day. They said within 5 days I should hear something. I don't feel like I failed. I know you usually get your notice of failure in the mail within a week or so. I am CONFUSED!! My "evaluator" at the BRN emailed me to tell me they will finish processing my payment by the end of the week (today is Saturday) and have my results mailed to me by the end of next week. Why can't they just tell me?

I did try the Pearson trick and got the pop-up. That and this blog are the only things keeping me sane.

If I didn't pass...fine, just tell me!! I've already been through the stages of grief, several times now. Each phone call to the BRN gives me hope, they tell me "Oh, you should soon", soon has come and gone too many times.

Has anybody else had this problem???:crying2:

Oh my! That is such good news!!!! Congratulations! I am so happy for you. 2bigdogs....call them! Let us know

I just received a call from CA BRN!!!! They called to say the woman who did all the eight year re-takes had been out. They apologized for my long wait (4 weeks 1 day) and told me i passed and license no. would be on the site tomorrow. That was great!!! I am so relieved!!!

Congratulations! What are your plans for working now?

Oh my goodness, I just called the BRN and he told me that 8-yr retakes do take longer to process, but ....get this....he told me I passed!!!!!! I passed! He couldn't give me a license #, but said that he would request that "she" process it as soon as possible. I think there is only one person that processes these things.

What a relief.

yeah I was not an 8 yr re-take. But congrats to you!! I am glad the guy told you!

Karen2,

I don't have any plans yet. I'd be interested in getting info on your re-entry class. I have a friend that does placements for healthcare but not sure what route I want to go.

You are in so cal? I'm in the IE. They have two referesher programs that I am interested in, but have not yet gone investigating. One is CSUSM, new Temecula Bldg., cost somewhere around $2500 and is about a two month program....fri lectures and sat/sun clinicals.-, beginning Sep 11, ending Nov 13. I know that one of the hospitals (Tri-city) will pay a portion of the tuition in return for working for them for one year, although there is nothing posted in that regard for the current clinical round. There is also Azusa Pacific, which is around $800,,,same deal, but appears to be less clinical time and I don't see any sponsors. So I plan to call them both and ask them why their program would be better than the one down the street. Both require current license, CPR for caregivers, medical clearance, MMR, TD, Hep B, Varicella, TB, and private insurance. CSUSM appears to have the best name recognition and is the longer and more expensive program.....9 clinical days, which is just a little more than I thought I would need to be really comfortable. Both programs have fall and spring programs.

Oh, your friend can help you get a job? You might want to go for that sure thing! But say you need to bring a friend {teehee}

Just kidding. The odds of me passing boards when my education was 25 years ago were so high that I'm feeling that I can conquer any issues set before me. Might have to take some round-about route, and work the noc shift in the pit of some hell, but at the end of that time, will have the magic words "one year current acute care"

'Twill be sweet.

Oh....both are not operated under the normal nursing program, but under 'extended studies'

Karen2,

Hi and thanks for all the info. I plan on taking The 8 hour CPR/AED class for healthcare workers at The Red Cross. They offer it almost once a week. I will talk to my friend and see what is out there and decide what to do from there. I graduated in 1981 with my BS so I think you and I should be very proud of ourselves. And I agree...we can conquer anything!! Did you look on the BRN site today? My name was there...finally. What a relief and joy to see it.Let's keep in touch and see how the journey goes.

Yes, mine is there as well. It's the same number I used to have, which I had memorized by heart. Made me all choked up to see it.

WE DID IT!

I'm applying to the refresher course now...it's only $25 to apply and I will take care of the CPR, etc., this coming week. Then just start making some phone calls to see what I need to do in order to make myself a desirable employment candidate. End goal is hospice, but I'll do whatever I need to for that first year, and who knows? I might fall in love with a different specialty.

Ummm....I think you need to change your screen name now :)

And please let me know what your friend says. I'm so afraid nobody will hire me ... have you read these boards? Lot of unemployed new grads, even those with one year of experience...scary times. I don't know how hiring managers look at nurses like us with a long lapse in employment as an RN...or maybe they won't look at us at all. I'd really like to hear your friends advise.
