Currently 38, working on BSN after working CVICU for a year. Looking at 5-6 years to complete, while working full time. Just curious if time and money is worth it, plus if it’s risky with a lot moving in the same direction.

Because you’re starting at a later age, you have to weigh your pros and cons more closely and have a game plan for your career that takes less risks.
How is the job market for ACNP’s where you are and would it guarantee a significant pay increase? Are you going to have to pay off student loans?
Physically, it’s not going to be much of an issue. I work in the ICU as an NP doing 12 hour shift work including some nights, weekends, and holidays. I don’t go home as wiped out and tired as I did working as a bedside RN.

No, you are not too old! I started my ABSN at age 53, graduated with AGPCNP at age 56 and received 9 job offers. Make time for regular exercise and present yourself as strong and fit when interviewing. I plan to work as long as I can and my family lives long with few or no chronic conditions. Maybe I'll go part time at age 70! If the ACNP works becomes too physically demanding, you can teach. Good luck!
