ooh has anyone heard they got into the RN program???? i am just dying to hear any news..... please keep me posted:yeah:

UM...Did I miss something? :crying2:

:yeah:CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!!!!!:yeah:

Some of you might know already that I just graduated so if y'all have any questions...just ask! And in case anyone might be wondering, yes I passed NCLEX...so I get to sign 'RN' after my name!!!

Like ohmeowzer has said, you are now going to be part of the best nursing program in Nevada!!

Hang on for the ride of your life!!

And for those who didn't get in this time - don't give up! If I gave up when I didn't get in the first time I wouldn't be a Registered Nurse today!

this is what i would like to know...

whats in the packet you get...

whats orientation like.....

don't we meet one more time b4 the semester starts when you have got everything they need?

when should i have my health insurance?before we start or right when???

also will can i get my cpr anywhere are they picky???

let's see when we go out packets we had a lot of information on different policies and procedures I think we also got a handbookfrom UMC. Then of course there are stuff for you to sign. Oh and it should come with your name badge! 'El Guapo' Student Nurse!

not sure if you guys meet again...I started the program in the spring (of 2006) and we only met for orientation

ideally you'd wanna get it before just in case there are any problems...without health insurance they won't let you start clinicals

your best bet with the CPR card - do it with the American Heart Association. I had mine and was trained through the Red Cross but they didn't accept it

for those in the first semester of the program, how are things going? is it hard? i know a guy who just dropped out because he couldn't handle it. said the teachers are mean, and it just wasnt for him. Tell me your experiences with the program so far... thanks

Specializes in ob/gyn med /surg.

congratulations to all who made it !! you can be proud you were selected !! you will be signing RN after your name befor you know it !!

Regarding first semester which I'm currently in. Yes it is hard, not so much the content but because the amount of it. There is sooo much work on a weekly basis to keep up on, which often means you don't always get a lot of time to study for the exams making it very very stressful. It's been quite awhile since I've taken two classes at the same time but I'm doing well so far in both so it is doable if you stay motivated and put in the effort. The most important thing is to not get behind and if you do to catch up as soon as possible otherwise it won't get done.

well, as per the instructors comment, 'mean' is subjective --> oh, gee that's the first time i've heard of this word! :D what? but, seriously.... i don't have anything against any of the first semester instructors but everyone is entitled to their opinion. i find the two leading nursing instructors good in lectures. they both have different styles of teaching, professional in their work. they're both direct and maybe some people find this condescending and a turn off. but, i don't think people withdraw on their first semester partly because of them or any other instructor??

after a while, you won't be surprised on the number of people who withdraw (drop out) of the program (mainly because of the program). you'll also meet a number of people who are re-instatements. the nursing program is difficult (not gonna lie), i wish i signed up for the part-time (knowing what i know now). even when i do the readings/work, i always feel like i'm behind. just be prepared, all the instructors expect this. if you're not, most of them will let you know.
