Before I type any further, I do realize how blessed I am to even have the option to not work while doing a MSN program. Ok, with that said, has not working through while pursuing a graduate degree caused anyone issues later obtaining employment?

My work experience in the field was essential to my development as a PMHNP, but I doubt this will have an impact on your marketability.

It depends where you live. FNPs in my area are experiencing very high levels of unemployment and depressed wages. A foot in the door at a major institution may matter a great deal or not at all. It depends on the market where you live.

If you don't have to work, you should be able to complete your degree faster and get an NP job faster.

Unfortunately, I am the sole provider in my home. So, I have to work if my family wants a roof and food. Being in an institution should help when seeking employment as an NP. However, if I had the option I would only focus on school, because if I didn’t need to work while in school, chances are I don’t need to work after I graduate either.
