Hi all,
I thought I could wait it out while I look for another job - but guess what? Today is payday and I didn't get paid!!!! What the he**? The manager said she "missed a deadline so nobody got paid."
I posted a few weeks ago about how miserable and burned out I am at my current workplace. Im exhausted. The patients totally burn me out. I'm on call every week. I feel like I'm always working.
The clinic is owned by an FNP and his wife, the office manager. All they seem to care about is making money. I told you about the high turnover rate, lost 6 FNPs in the last year. Now i know why!!!
I thought I could handle it but I'm I can't work for free!!!! I am trying to leave as fast as I can...but how do i get paid?
Has this ever happened to you? What a lack of respect they show employees! At least now i have an excuse - why did i leave so soon? They didn't pay me on time!!!

They own the clinic. They can adjust the deadline. This is not the equivalent of a low-level manager in a big organization forgetting to turn in time sheets.
Give them 24 hours to pay you in full. Then contact an attorney.

This is terrible - indeed - 24 hours and contact an attorney. They have broken their part of any type of employment agreement - so you can leave w/o notice for all they've done!

Contact a lawyer, and don't go back. They are breaking the law. You don' t continue to work unless you get paid, plain and simple.
Demand payment or you don't work anymore. I wouldn't risk keep on working and continue to not get paid...
Any lawyer will back you.

They sound so incredibly unprofessional!!! So happy you are getting out of there....I know how you feel though; my last day at work is next Tuesday and I don't have another job lined up yet either...but I know if I don't leave my current job now, I will turn into a very bitter, crazy woman. I know my poor husband seconds that! :)

I had a contract with him and I had to have all my charting finished within 48 hours, so I would get paid (I was paid per patient). Well, the last month I was there we had started the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. They didn't have it set up so I could sign off on my charts and the manager (the docs wife) told me to not worry about it b/c she would set up an electronic signature and sign everything automatically. Well, the doc wasn't too happy about me leaving and we got into it "big time" regarding his unethical practices. After I left, I was supposed to get a check for around $10,000, but I received one for $200.00! I contacted the wife and she told me "per my contract" I was supposed to sign off on my charts within 48 hours, but since this wasn't done, I wouldn't be getting paid. I told her that it was IMPOSSIBLE to sign off on the rest of the charts b/c we had gone to EMR and she hadn't set it up to where I could sign them automatically. She said..."TOO BAD!" I was SO MAD...I threatened a lawsuit (I had a lawyer send them a letter), but still no check. Finally, I called her and told her that I had a list of every patient I had seen and I was going to contact each and every insurance carrier and tell them to not pay for those visits b/c I saw the patient and I hadn't signed off on the charts. The next day a courier delivered a check for the full amount to my house. Threaten to do the same thing and I GUARANTEE you that they'll come up with your money!

Huge, fat, ugly fines for employers. Call your state board of labor relations. Remember, you are not practicing in Myanmar--stand up for yourself.

I had this happen at an urgent care clinic. The paychecks were bouncing, so I took my paychecks to the bank they had the account at to get the cash. That bank wanted to charge me fee!! for cashing a check from themselves!! I refused to pay and asked for the manager and was a little loud in front of the teller so that other customers could hear me. They wanted me to open an acount in their bank, but I refused.
Do Not Deposit any check from your current employer, if you do then you have to wait for it to clear. Go directly to the bank/to the branch addressed on the check itself then take the money and run, run to your bank.
Good luck with your future endeavors. I can see the writing on the wall.
It says, "RUN, RUN As Fast As You Can to the next job!!"
Since they own the clinic, they should be able to cut you a check, this may mean they have to handwrite you a check as you watch them. Even if it is rounded to as close at what they owe you. Remind them your rent/mortgage/elec is due.

I've heard of lots of midlevels who've had their paychecks bounce. This is just amazing to me. One doc in town can't even order supplies for his UC clinic b/c he's so behind on his bills. Of course, he lives in a 1 million dollar mansion and has 3 nannies for his 3 kids...plus gardner, housekeeper, etc. He is notorious for bouncing paychecks and paying his employee's late.
