To Hiring Managers, please be honest

Nurses Job Hunt

I did an online application for a local large medical group. I got an email back with a link to do their online assessment for the next step in the hiring process. I did the assessment (it's customer service-type questions and the answers are strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree, strongly agree so there shouldn't be any right/wrong answers) and a message popped up that I was no longer being considered for that position. Every time since then, when I apply online for a different position within that company, I get an email stating that I haven't been chosen for further evaluation due to my assessment and I can retest in 6 months. Does that mean I'm immediately rejected for anything within that company for another 6 months? Can I keep applying and hope someone liked my answers enough to at least interview me? How can one assessment with opinions for answers be a deterrent to getting interviewed? I'd applied to several positions before this assessment and never heard back, and now there's several open postings daily. Am I automatically going to be rejected for every one?

Short answer certainly seems like "yes" you are going to be automatically rejected.

You might want to ask yourself if this is the organization you want to work for. Do you think you would fit with the culture of that group? If you don't, there's a good chance you'll be miserable no matter how good the pay or how much you like the field.

I'm not suggesting any fault lies with you. Different agencies have different "personalities." You will mesh with some and not with others....just like all of us.

If that organization is like the one I work for then yes, you will be rejected for 6 months. After 6 months should get another chance to take the test, but you have to "pass" it.

I am pretty sure I work for the organization in question, based on the OP's previous posts. Yes, you will be automatically rejected until you can retest. We hired a bunch of new staff recently, and our manager reminded us in staff meetings that if we wanted to refer someone, they HAD to pass that assessment, or their application would automatically be rejected. :( I had to take it too, it's no fun! Best of luck to you next time!

That's what I was afraid of. They have several locations in my state and in several other states too, and one location is very near me. Guess I'll cross them off my list until June. That really sucks because it just eliminated a HUGE chunk of the available jobs in my area. As I stated, how can I fail a test where the answers are "strongly disagree" to "strongly agree"? And not even an interview. . .they just don't know what they're missing.

The system I work for makes applicants take a test like the one you're talking about, but as far as I know, they don't give you a second chance to take it after 6 months or any other time. That's kind of crazy if you ask me, but they swear by the thing!

I actually had a manager tell me she was going to hire me, but wanted to go back and look at my "profile" to decide which unit I would be a better fit! I'd really like to see my results since apparently they bear a lot of weight.
