Hi,

I am interested in becoming an ER Nurse but I don't know a whole lot about it. So I was wondering if LPNs or RNs who work in the ER could tell me what it was like getting the training, why you became an ER nurse, what is the worst and best thing about being an ER nurse?

thanks

hi! Where are you from? I'm an ER nurse here in the Philippines. Well first you should undergn training/seminars that would be quite helpful to you. Here are some of them: IV Therapy training, BLS, Standard first aid, ACLS, APLS. These are just some which are offered in our country. You also need a good knowledge in TRIAGE Nursing as this is vital for ER nurses. Working in developing countries like here in the Philippines, i'v faced a lot of dilemmas, (well i think it also goes for all nurses everywhere ) and eventually you will learn effective decision making skills.

i'm sorry for double posting..my phone messed up..

Id like to agree with ruby, ER nurses ROCKS! Their not just front liners but they can be very reliable from almost everywhere ü.

That's why i wanted to practice my ER nursing abroud because i know there are so many things and great opportunities to advance my nursing skills unlike here in my present position ü

Here in the US,..the ER nurses training is the same as any other type of nursing. Go to school,.pass the NCLEX to get your license then apply for the job you want. Once you actually work in the ER there will be classes/certification for you to attend while working. Best of Luck to you. I love the ER.
