  1. I think it depends a lot on how long you got the misdemanors and for what. I would be very careful about approaching the WA BON. They can be very cut and dry.
  2. Sorry I wasn't asking for legal advice. I was hoping that someone who has gone through a similar problem might give me some info as to how they dealt with it. Maybe a little about what the WA DOH is like.
  3. Hi guys, In 2010 I was convicted of a gross misdmeanor (attempted theft in the second degree). I got a 24 month deffered sentence. That 24 month has come to an end and I can get my record expunged. This was before I decided to pursue a Nursing career. I recently applied for my NAC license in Washington state. I was denied the license and have requested a hearing with department of health. I was hoping someone could give me advice as to how I should approach the hearing. Since I can't afford an attorney I to have repersent myself. If I reapply for the license once my record is expunged (the background check is cleaning of any crimianl history) will the DOH deny it again because now they have a record of my background. The file that Washington DOH have on me, will it be thrown out eventually or will they always have it with the information that I once was convited of a gross misdemenaor.
  4. I don't think that a program can lose their accreditation in middle of the year. Springfield/Eugene is a good place for kids. Much better than Portland NE. It is easy to find a cheap place to live in a good or decent neighborhood. How do you get worksource to pay for the school?
  5. Thanks for the info. Seeing the pass rates shows that they don't teach well. I think I might just stick to apollo college since they also have the LPN to RN bridge program at their Boise campus.
  6. I am in the process of applying to Pioneer Pacific College practical nursing program in springfield, OR. While searching for ratings I came across a lot scary negative feedback about the other programs they offer but nothing about their LPN program. My thinking is maybe the LPN program is fine since I didn't find any bad feedback for that one, but am still concerned about wasting a lot of time and money. Would really appreciate if anyone who has gone through that program would share their feedback.
  7. Thank you for the info. I am going to go all the way to get my RN degree. But I am a mom who cannot wait around to do pre-reqs and than wait around to get accepted in a RN school. I want to get some experience and than go to an LPN to RN program.
  8. Is Apollo College any good?

Hi, I am interested in becoming an ER Nurse but I don't know a whole lot about it. So I was wondering if LPNs or RNs who work in the ER could tell me what it was like getting the training, why you became an ER nurse, what is the worst and best thing about being an ER nurse? thanks
  10. If this is your friends first and only offense than she probably can get into Nursing School but an employer would be a whole different thing. Can she ever get the DUI off her record? If she can than she should go to school and get the DUI of her record and not repeat the mistake. Oregon State probably would license her as long as it was her first and only and she didn't have any other convictions. But like other people said she should talk to the schools she planning to go to and the state board of nursing where she wants to practice.
  11. Thanks. Do you know if PLU requires the TEAS test for the LPN to BSN Program?
  12. I am studying to be an LPN in Washington State that has Nursing schools that are really hard to get into even if you have a 4.0. I am not very good with sciences but really want to be a nurse. Does anybody know of a RN or BSN program that easy to get into if one is a LPN? I don't really care what state. Of course a school in Oregon would be wonderful. Thanks.
