TO DO LIST: Complete NCLEX-PN *CHECK*

Published

i took my nclex-pn today. i had no choice. i tried to reschedule yesterday, but pearson does not allow appointment changes less than 24 hours prior to the appointment. :clown:

i was standing in the waiting room which was designed to minimize anxiety. the lights were low, the furniture was ergonomic, the colors were earth tones, and the workers spoke in calm tones. the more nervous a person showed, the slower they spoke and explained the hand printing and other security procedures. i truly appreciated the atmosphere. nobody spoke a word except for the occasional nervous giggle. i found it ironic that in school, i did not any fear (except on test days). i was fortunate to work on codes, assist in the or, manage critical care patients and whatever task that i was assigned. despite my proven record for being calm under pressure during a year of clinical rotations and the effort pearson vue took to simulate a soothing environment, i still felt the strong urge to micturate/void/pee-pee when my name was called. fortunately, they gave me time to do so before i was escorted into the testing center.

the test itself was kind of weird. it seemed like i had about 30 to 40 satas, 3- 5 exhibition questions, 20 multiple choice, and 20 to 30 prioritization and delegation questions. drugs made up the bulk of my multiple choice questions. i was always told that if you felt like you failed, then it means you probably passed since the test keeps asking you harder questions until you get it wrong. i left the test feeling ambivalent. the questions were not as technical as i expected. the line of questioning was more concerned with critical thinking. i had to keep reminding myself not to read into the question and trust that the examiner gave me all of the information that was required. i also had to make sure i broke the question down completely to ensure i knew what was being asked before answering.

in the end, the test ended at 85 questions. it will be 2 business days before i can get unofficial results, but the pvt gave me the "our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. please contact your member board for further assistance. another registration cannot be made at this time" pop-up window.

thank you to everyone who encouraged me to take the test. pass or fail, the anxiety is over. :yeah:

Your experience sounds just like mine (tested yesterday). Everything from the ambiance, to feeling ambivalence, to finishing with 85 questions. There were sooo many SATA, i had alot of math, and alot of prioritization and delegation. it was difficult, but as you stated, many have said that means you are doing well.

you passed no doubt. you got the good pop up, and your name will be on the BON website tomorrow morning. Congratulations LPN!!!
