Maybe we can help each other through the admissions process. I start classes in August.... anyone else out here?

I just got accepted and I start in October (2nd flex). I had the same questions you did. Thanks Duncan for answering them. I am taking Pharm in July and Med term(quick course) in July also.

Hey Duncan3178, what are the most important items we should pick up for our first semester? And could you tell us where we can buy good uniforms, shoes, supplies...etc.

Kirsten - It's MEEEEE! Jennifer! - We met at our CPR class and then we met up again on June 15 - you gave me the sheet for the workout program you were doing...by the way it is a good one - did you get a schedule yet?

I am currently attending the SAC nursing program. I will be starting OB and pedi in the fall. Congrats on getting accepted. It is a great accomplishment. I just wanted to say hello to all my fellow SAC students!

Thanks Carrie,

Any advice on new incoming students? I am clueless on what I need to start buying and reviewing (studying).

I would buy the Fundamentals of Nursing Book and start reading!!! The class moves quickly and reading a lot in advance really helped me do well. I always practiced the NCLEX style questions in the book and workbook and ignored the rest of the review material in the book.

Our reading Assignments went something like this last semester...although yours could be different!

Week 1 - Chapters 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 11, 23 & 24

Week 2 - Chapters 13, 15, 16, 28, 29. 37

You'll need white scrubs, for sure. They aren't picky about the style. You'll also need white shoes without ANY color on them, at all. Tennis shoes are OK.

We needed a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff right away. I'd go ahead and buy those so you have time to shop around for a good deal. I toyed with the idea of getting a top of the line stethoscope, but it turns out they get stolen a lot. I ended up getting a Littman Classic II and it seems to be a good, solid stethoscope. You'll also need a pen light.

We used our Carpenito book in the first semester, as well. I don't remember that one being too expensive.
