TNPAP Monitoring Agreement

Nurses Recovery

Published

I have completed my IOP and have started with counseling. I finished IOP last Friday. How long does it normally take to receive your monitoring agreement? I’ve tried to email and call my case worker for a couple of things and he’s only emailed me back once.
Also, my daughter is graduating from college and we are having a party for her. I would like to have one glass of champagne but I’m afraid to due to drug/alcohol testing.
anyone have any advice for me?

This happened to me! Do not drink! I was told they had a test that could go back 5 days for alcohol but on memorial day, I had a drink and on Monday I got tested for alcohol and failed. It is not worth it . You have to resign yourself to the fact that you can not EVER drink until this is over. I know it sucks but you can do it.

Oh no! So sorry to hear that ? Did you get a peth test? What did they say to you?

DistressedRN, hello. I am a RN who is recently now under investigation for suspected narcotics diversion and basically administering too many narcotics, as well as failure to document those narcotics. I am innocent in drug abuse and diversion. Honestly. I have personally taken a urine drug screen the day I got fired after they refused to allow me to take one. I just took another UDS. Could I please email you to discuss this further? I am weighing my options to either do the drug monitoring program ( I know I haven't taken anything, but at least my license is safe with this) or go the investigative route and hope they don't discipline me or make my license unencumbered. I would really appreciate any personal feedback you have. thanks in advance.

Are they reporting you to the BON? Did they give you the option of TNPAP?

They reported me to the BON after I self reported, they did allow me to do that at least. The board hasn't officially contacted me, except sent a letter in the mail stating a case has been opened and is under investigation. The investigator did say that I had the option to do my state's version of TNPAP, if I admitted to a "problem". I don't have a problem, have never used or abused. Have never diverted. I even took drug screens to prove it, but obviously can't prove I didn't divert. Investigator said if I'm innocent, go the investigative route, however I am really afraid I might have a restricted license, or be on probation. At least with the TNPAP, I won't have a public record of it, and my license is intact. However, it may open up a new can of worms with that program.
