TMA Chaos

Hello everyone, I was just trained in as a TMA after two years on the floor. My problem is I'm too slow granted I just stopped training last week.I'm also about to start my second semester as a PN student. I feel as if I either a) have not developed a routine or B) I'm taking too long verifying my meds so I do not get a med error or more importantly give the wrong medicine. I'm responsible for 21 people who all get HS Meds (2000) and BS and insulin on 4 of those and blood sugars on 6. I also have neb treatments and ROM that sort of thing. We are a paper MAR facility. My residents are getting uptight with my performance as a TMA, which in turn increases my axiety. Anybody who has some tips for managing medications safely and efficiently I sure would love to here it. Thanks for any feedback.

Although your residents are getting disgruntled with your pace at giving them their meds, it sounds like you just started and are being careful. It will take time for you to develop a routine and also for you to know the residents and their meds. Pretty soon you will get the hang of it. Just give yourself some time.

thanks:bugeyes:

Give yourself time. Once you get into a groove everything becomes easier. Better to have people be a little upset that you move slower then to give them the wrong MED! If they say anything just tell them you want to give them the right meds. Its not like they can argue with that.

good luck!
