Tired of Pre-req classes!

Published

Hello all,

I am sitting at work, doing some reading for my online speech class, and I just can't get motivated to finish the chapter. For 1; It is speech class, and its online. SPEECH as in COMMUNICATION. ONLINE? WHAT? I mean, it is convenient, but come on, I am not learning a thing.

AND then theres english 2. My favorite subject throughout my life has always been english. I'm just good at it, and everyone likes what they are good at. I am making an A, but barely because I am just TIRED of it. There is only SO much english I can learn. My college level english 2 class is comparable to a middle school class!

Last on the list is philosophy. I can actually say I am enjoying this class, but only because the readings are interesting. All of my classes are online this semester, and It is very convenient, but I am missing the social, and argumentative aspect of learning.

I am sort of glad that my classes have been easy because its been a break from the normal stress in my life, but easy classes also worry me. I do not want to be rusty for my nursing classes next semseter! I feel like I will do well because it will finally be something new and refreshing, and challenging, but what if I am wrong? What if my disinterest in my other classes, and my annoyed attitude hinder my performance in my classes that count the most? Is anyone else feeling this way? Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I was thinking of taking a semseter off and starting the nursing program in the fall instead of summer? QAny opinions?

Thanks in advance!

Pre-reqs are difficult because you under constant stress for every single grade. Anything less than an A drives you mad b/c you believe nursing school is blown. Stick with it and once you get into nursing school a weight is lifted off....until the first semester begins:sneaky:[/quote']

Hallelujah!!!! Lol this is my last semester of prereqs! :)

This is my last semester of pre reqs and I am grateful for that. I know nursing school will be challening but I am ready to move into a new phase. It's taken me almost 2 years to complete all this work.

As am I! The prereqs were just so tedious. I'm ready to be challenged! It's taken me almost 2 years as well. Good luck in NS! :)

I know I am an odd ball but I am learning to enjoy my pre reqs. I am an older student and its been along time since high school, even in high school I was a crumby student. I am using my pre req time to learn my learning habits and work on skills that work for me to learn the best I can. I am excited and cant wait as well, but fact is I have to take some classes before I get there and might as well use the experience for something good right?

Ohhh I sure hope so! :)

I'm also considering taking a semester off. My plan, originally, was to finish all my pre reqs by this fall in hopes of getting into the spring BSN program (2014). Now I'm thinking to stretch it one more semester, take maybe one class in spring and then have the summer to get my life in order and go to fall 2014.

My only concern is that I'll get out of the swing of school and I'll have a difficult time getting acclimated to a heavy workload again.

I got accepted to a program for the September start date, and I have completed all of my pre-reqs except A&P. My school allows us to take these classes in the program so I'm deciding wether I want to take them this summer or wait.

A summer off would be great, but as you are, I'm afraid I will get lazy and find myself not ready in the fall. I want this so badly that I really doubt that would happen, but it is a Rome racking thought. I will most likely take the summer off.

Just my 2cents. I took my last couple prerequisites my first semester. I was miserable. As much as I loved my summer off before I started ns I wished I had taken those classes before I started b

I complain about my pre-reqs a lot. I'm going to take my last one, Microbiology this summer. I start LPN school in the fall.

runsalot, I'm glad you stated that. I just signed up for another class this summer (now I have 2) so that I can get one of the "non-essential" nursing courses out of the way. It's not considered a pre-requisite, but I have to finish it by the second semester of NS, so I just decided to register to finish it this summer before NS starts!
