Tips on passing NCLEX 2010

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I graduated last April 2010 and took the local board here in Philippines last July 3-4. It was so damn difficult but I passed. Now, I'm currently reviewing for my NCLEX this November 2010. I'm in a review marathon now (local board exam then NCLEX). Some topics are still fresh. However, I still feel anxious on passing NCLEX.

I'm currently enrolled in Kaplan Philippines and hopefully the live lecture isn't boring as hell as the e-learning stuff. I have Saunder's 4th Comprehensive Review Book. I usu. get 50-60% scores on practice exams and it's kinda making my anxiety grow.

Any tips on passing NCLEX 2010? I'm worried that 13-19% of questions will come from Pharma. How do I know if I'm getting passing level questions?

me too!! i graduated last april 2010 but im not taking the nclex just yet.. i get so nervous just thinking about it.. most of the people that i know of passed the nclex the first time with kaplan and other nclex live courses in Ph, im thinking of moving back to philippines if i dont make it after my 1st attempt..

Dont give up frontalobish!!! Your allowed to take the test as many times as you need to pass. Hopefully you will pass the first time. Do practice questions and try not to be nervous. I guess I failed because I was so nervous after reading about the dreaded NCLEX, that i did not really get to rest the night before, just ended up waking up in night sweats and not being able to sleep afterwards. Honestly, now that I look back at it, it was just like taking another question trainer from Kaplan. I just let anxiety get the best of me. You will do great!!!

Not always correct, some states require some form of further assessment if you fail the exam 2-3 times. I think Florida has something in place because you have to do a review for the 4th attempt and if you fail that I think it is back to school.

Each state will have their own requirements on what they will or will not allow, always check with them

tnx rosesnpetals, im doing ncsbn right now and the questions are wayyy harder than the others..the low scores that ive been getting makes me feel and think that i might not be able to pass it..waaahh!!! please pray for me..thanks!

Thanks for putting that information out there Silverdragon! I read on some posts that after three attempts you have to do some sort of remediation. I am from California and I believe that you can take it as many times as you need 2. I will check back with them and make sure so there is no confusion. But thanks again for making that point.

Frontalobish, make sure you spend some time studying content as well. You do have to know content to be able to answer the questions. So read like a couple of chapters of content from a review book and then answer questions on those topics. Establish a plan that works for you and make sure you maximize your studying time by managing your time wisely. Good Luck and of course I pray that you will do well the first time. =)

I also think that score doesn't matter, i did very well on Kaplan but failed with 75 Q. I thought i passed. Now i am taking Hurst review. Good luck!

Have you taken NCLEX since the Hurst review? I have failed twice (265 ?s the second time), after Kaplan and I dont know where to go from here...

Wow congrats, you're just like my friend after the boards he's preparing for the NCLEX too. I'll take mine in 8 days. I also graduated last April. I took Kaplan, the live lecture is not as boring as the video. I recommend La Charity, they got so much delegation questions harder than Kaplan and study meds, coz they got much of uncommon meds that are not available in Pinas.

I failed twice as well :( with Kaplan and yes just like you second time was with 265 questions but I rushed thinking i must finish ALL the questions, which caused the failed results most likely. So I am pulling myself together now, got Saunders, Feuer and my strength from G-d! I set up a schedule for myself 3 hrs of Nclex a day separated by lunch time, break time, whatever...an hr each time you sit down...works well thus far, an hr for lectures, an hr for questions and an hr for book content review! Ughhhh not easy but WE WILL PASS THIS TIME WITH G-D's HELP AND HIS BLESSINGS! AMEN! Good luck to you...you will pass!!!!!!

Thanks for writing your experience! It's nice to know I'm not the only one! I'm using Mosby, NCLEX-RN Exam Prep (Rinehart) and using questions from the LaCharity book that several people on here recommended :) Good luck!

hi scwwcs, no i didn't take nclex yet since hurst review. i am taking on monday, november 8. i don’t even know what i feel, i feel nothing, i even don’t know if i am ready or not. i think i was much more prepared when i took nclex three months ago. i am not even nervous anymore. hurst review is very good, but i do not like their q bank, they are just weird and doesn’t look like a nclex at all. wish me good luck, i will keep posting after monday.

Sadly, I know how you feel. It's just kind of numb and this point because I don't not how to react :( I've been studying a lot and I'm sure you have too! I just reapplied on Thursday, so I am waiting for my ATT.

Best of luck to you on Monday!! Hopefully you can post some good news on wednesday :o
